The book of Isaiah is outstanding in its brilliance of style, its poetic power, and its foretaste of the hope of the gospel. It tells us how God himself has provided the highway to holiness for those who have been 'redeemed' or 'ransomed'. These are images which evoke the Exodus from Egypt, and foreshadow Christ's achievement at the cross. There is tangible joy for the reader in Isaiah's portrayal of judgment - rebuilding within the demolition, the new replacing the old. In Isaiah's masterpiece, both national and world events reveal God's hand, and its good news is the very hope of the world. Barry Webb invites his readers to see Isaiah's compelling vision of God's glory, and the wonder of access to him. Writing this book, for him, was an unforgettable flight: 'I have soared like an eagle into the heavens and seen the glory of God, and with new eyes I have seen the world and my place in it.'
Families are living stories. They tell us where we came from, guide us as we live our lives, and help us see who we could become. Especially priceless are the lives and words of those who came before us. Christ-followers from earliest times to the present enrich us with their insight and inspiring examples. In the face of political, social and theological challenges, these saints lived lives faithful to the gospel story. The Book of Saints The Middle Era is a devotional gateway to the thoughts and insights of church leaders, teachers, and spiritual mentors who lived between the early fourth and early fifteenth century. Living in a world of change, conflict, and controversy, these saintly persons have much to say to us today. Their words and life stories, along with prayers and Scripture selections, are brought together in this book to inspire and challenge us to a life of love and holiness, the great themes of our family story.

Amazing Grace Volume Three speaks about the life and work of the English evangelist Gary Punch. Gary Punch can be described as London's best loved evangelist, preaching the gospel of Christ to thousands of people on the streets of London in a professional, dedicated and caring way. This book is also a tribute to Gary's wife Susan Punch. I do hope you enjoy reading it!
As the church strives to engage with a world radically different from that which shaped Christendom, creating new forms of church leadership has become a necessity. In this endeavour, the office of deacon, so communally relevant and influential in the early church, but then neglected for centuries, is again coming to the fore, not least in North America. In Britain, the Methodist Diaconal Order embraces many features of a renewed diaconate. The papers in this book address key theological and ecclesiological issues faced by British Methodism, but of relevance to all churches, as it continues to engage with the potential of a renewed diaconate to enhance its life and mission. David Clark became a member of the Methodist Diaconal Order in 2005. Previously, as a presbyter, he worked in Sheffield and inner London. He then became a senior lecturer in community education at Westhill College, Birmingham. He played a leading role in promoting the Christian Community Movement of the `eighties. In subsequent years he set up the Christian in Public Life Programme, founded the Human City Institute and initiated the Kingdom at Work Project. He has written prophetically about his vision of the church to come, identified by him as `the diaconal church', and of a renewed diaconate as a hall-mark of its leadership. `David Clark in his two earlier books Breaking the Mould of Christendom and Building Kingdom Communities - with the diaconate as a new order of mission offers very compelling arguments for a new way of thinking. He casts his vision to what he calls the kingdom community. He provides a comprehensive vision of church and ministry from a diaconal perspective.' Sandy Boyce - from her Presidential Address to the 22nd Assembly of DIAKONIA, theworldwide gathering of diaconal associations, Chicago, 2017 `It is a privilege to commend this collection of papers. David Clark offers a timely and helpful contribution to the ongoing debate about the nature of the diaconate and diaconal ministry both lay and ordained. Drawing widely from his own experience, that of British Methodism and of our ecumenical partners, he shares his vision of an emerging diaconal church. His book deserves a wide readership.' David Emison - Former Chair of the Methodist Cumbria District, former Chair of the Methodist Diaconal Order Committee and an Associate Member of the Methodist Diaconal Order

Most people likely know of Mother Teresa's great faithfulness to God's call as she started her ministry to the poor in Calcutta. But at the time, few knew that she had lost all sense of God's presence, love, and sometimes the assurance that God existed at all. Astonishingly, for 50 years, the saint's life was spent in what she called "the darkness." Yet, somehow Mother Teresa managed to get up every morning and say yes to God. And not only did she say yes, she came to accept the darkness, while also allowing a sense of humor and even playfulness to shine through. This book is a memoir of the author's direct experiences with Mother Teresa during a trip to Calcutta in 1996 when she discovered that sense of humor first hand. It is also an extended reflection on the beloved saint's "dark night of the soul" and what that might mean for spiritual seekers today.
Dated 1909, A dialogue took place between a man and his Lord, stretching beyond the imaginations of all and superseding the works of man Allama Iqbal raises a series of complaints titled; Shikwa. The East was swept back in total astonishment as the controversy had begun. But little did they know that where there is a complaint surely a response will follow and it sure did. 1913 was the year the Allama Iqbal reclaimed his lost glory with the much awaited responce publication of Jawaab-e-Shikwa. It was claimed a `masterpiece'. It would be unjust not to translate it and relay such a unique, classical piece of work of Iqbal's.
'A rich and subtle exploration of the sacredness of nature, filled with a timeless wisdom and deep humanity' Guardian In this hugely powerful book, Karen Armstrong argues that it isn't enough to change our behaviour to avert environmental catastrophe - we must rekindle our spiritual bond with the natural world. From gratitude and compassion to sacrifice and non-violence, Armstrong draws themes from the world's religious traditions to offer practical steps to reconnect you with nature. 'A lamentation in the key of Greta Thunberg, with undertones of Carl Jung' Wall Street Journal 'Warm and witty... a challenge to think differently in the face of climate change' Tablet 'Karen Armstrong is one of the handful of wise and supremely commentators on religion' Alain de Botton
Based on the daily scripture readings for Lent, this book helps you explore the depths of your being, your relationship to Christ, and your association with others during this time of spiritual preparation. Each day you focus on one scriptural theme through breaking open God's Word. The reflection then reaches out to us in our busy lives to consider what the Word has to offer us during the holidays. Next, a thought to ponder brings home the message for you-to really apply the reading and reflection to your life. Now say a prayer, an offering and petition to the Lord; finally a practice, a chance to change your daily routine in simple ways to bring God's love to your life and prepare for the paschal mystery and Easter season.

As recent events have unfolded, not only America but the entire world
has been brought to the precipice of the most challenging moments of
our lifetimes. But while these times seem unprecedented and unchartered
to us, they are not to God. Much like He said to Joshua and the
children of Israel standing on the edge of the Promised Land, God now
says to us: “You have never been this way before” (Josh.3:4). God’s
word is tender, challenging, and scary. God knows where we’ve been and
where we are going. As we cope with extraordinary new outbreaks of
disease, racism, and cultural upheaval, we have been forced to
recognize that we are not prepared for this. Nobody is.
Just like today’s Christians, the people of great faith listed in Hebrews 11 had to grapple with things that had not been encountered before. They needed unprecedented faith to accomplish God’s purpose in unprecedented times. Join R. T. Kendall on this journey to understand what God is saying to His people in this critical hour, the ways He has already equipped you to face these uncertainties, and how to know His plan for your future. This book will help you understand what God is saying to us during this time of uncertainty and change.
This book examines the foundation of the London Jews Society (LJS) in 1809, and the construction of Palestine Place in 1813 at Bethnal Green in East London. The early supporters of the LJS from 1815 were Anglican Evangelicals, including William Wilberforce and Charles Simeon. A mission centre was established at Palestine Place on a five-acre site, which incorporated an Episcopal Jews' Chapel; separate schools for boys and girls; staff houses; a missionary training college and a House of Industry, which provided work for converted Jews, especially by printing leaflets and books.
