Saving the Planet Without the Bullsh*t - What They Don’t Tell You About the Climate Crisis (Paperback, Main): Assaad Razzouk Saving the Planet Without the Bullsh*t - What They Don’t Tell You About the Climate Crisis (Paperback, Main)
Assaad Razzouk
R307 Discovery Miles 3 070 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

'Fast paced and energetic' Financial Times 'Punchy, provocative and wonderfully readable' - David Shukman 'Eye-popping and essential' - Rowan Hooper 'A must-read' - Peter Stott Have you heard that you should plant trees to save the planet? Or buy carbon offsets when you fly? Or recycle plastic? Go vegan? Or not have children? What if all these actions were a distraction, no matter how well-intentioned? In this provocative manifesto, Assaad Razzouk shows that for too long our ideas about what's best for the environment have been unfocused and distracted, trying to go in too many directions and concentrating on individual behaviour. While some of these things can be useful, they are dwarfed by one big thing that simply has to happen very soon if we're to avoid major environmental breakdown: curtailing the activities of the fossil fuel industry. Full of counter-intuitive statistics and positive suggestions for individual and collective action, this ingenious book will change how you view the climate crisis.

Evolutionary Economics and Environmental Policy - Survival of the Greenest (Hardcover, illustrated edition): Jeroen C.J.M van... Evolutionary Economics and Environmental Policy - Survival of the Greenest (Hardcover, illustrated edition)
Jeroen C.J.M van den Bergh, Albert Faber, Annemarth M. Idenburg, Frans H. Oosterhuis
R2,898 Discovery Miles 28 980 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

This study offers a unique evolutionary economics perspective on energy and innovation policies in the wider context of the transition to sustainable development. The authors include: an analysis of the environmental policy implications of evolutionary economics; a critical examination of current Dutch environmental and innovation policies and policy documents; and systematic evaluation of three specific energy technologies, namely fuel cells, nuclear fusion and photovoltaic cells, within the evolutionary-economic framework. Their analysis results in a number of very specific policy recommendations, which to some extent may be in conflict with current policy advice and practice. Evolutionary Economics and Environmental Policy will appeal to researchers, undergraduate and graduate students in environmental economics, environmental science, public economics and technology studies. It will also be valuable to policy advisors and policymakers whose decisions affect the environment either directly or indirectly.

National Environmental Accounting - Bridging the Gap between Ecology and Economy (Hardcover, New): Joy E. Hecht National Environmental Accounting - Bridging the Gap between Ecology and Economy (Hardcover, New)
Joy E. Hecht
R4,006 Discovery Miles 40 060 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

This book presents national environmental, or "green" accounting as it has developed in Europe and other parts of the world. It introduces the most recent methods developed through the United Nations Statistical Department and other international organizations, but bridges the gap between the superficial treatment of environmental accounting in economics textbooks and environmental literature, on the one hand, and the highly technical manuals of international organizations, on the other.

Joy Hecht begins with a history and introduction to national income accounting. The first part of her book explains how the environmental accounts build on the structure of the 1993 System of National Accounts. She then shows the UN approach to accountingapplied to pollution, recycling, and the management of natural resources such as forests, minerals, and fisheries. The third section discusses how the accounts approach green GDP and other macroeconomic indicators. The book concludes by going beyond the UN structures to discuss other adjusted macroeconomic measures and how accounting data can be used to build them.

National Environmental Accounting is a non-technical introduction to an increasingly important field. It is a must-read for anyone interested in how environmental accounts can help society move towards greater sustainability.

Alternatives for Environmental Valuation (Hardcover, New): Michael Getzner, Clive Spash, Sigrid Stagl Alternatives for Environmental Valuation (Hardcover, New)
Michael Getzner, Clive Spash, Sigrid Stagl
R5,354 Discovery Miles 53 540 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

Methods for raising awareness of how humana (TM)s value the environment range from monetary valuation through to greater public participation in decisions. In this book a group of international experts explore innovative alternatives which are critically evaluated and compared. Lessons are drawn from both the successes and failures of different approaches. Case studies address a wide variety of cutting edge environmental problems from agro-forestry and wetlands to climate change, biodiversity and genetically modified organisms.

The Global Economics of Forestry (Paperback): William F. Hyde The Global Economics of Forestry (Paperback)
William F. Hyde
R1,599 Discovery Miles 15 990 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

This book traces the economic and biological pattern of forest development from initial settlement and harvest activity at the natural forest frontier to modern industrial forest plantations. It builds from diagrams describing three discrete stages of forest development, and then discusses the management and policy implications associated with each, supporting its observations with examples and data from six continents and from both developed and developing countries. It shows that characteristic distinctions between the three stages make forestry unusual in natural resource management and that effective policy requires different, even contrasting, decisions at each stage. William F. Hyde's comprehensive discussion covers a wide range of issues, including the impacts of both specific forest policies and broader macroeconomic policies, the unique requirements of current issues such as global warming, biodiversity and tourism, and the complexities of the different forest products industries. Concluding chapters review the roles of the newer institutional landowners, of smaller private and farm landowners, and of public agencies. This highly-original volume reaches far beyond forest economics; it explains what forestry can do for regional development and environmental conservation and what policies designed for other sectors and the macro-economy can do for forestry.

The Solar Economy - Renewable Energy for a Sustainable Global Future (Paperback, New edition): Hermann Scheer The Solar Economy - Renewable Energy for a Sustainable Global Future (Paperback, New edition)
Hermann Scheer
R1,084 Discovery Miles 10 840 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

The global economy and our way of life are based on the exploitation of fossil fuels, which not only threaten massive environmental and social disruption through global warming but, at present rates of consumption, will run out within decades, causing huge industrial dislocation and economic collapse. Even before then, the conflicts it causes in the Middle East and elsewhere will be frighteningly exacerbated. The alternative exists: renewable energy from renewable sources - above all, solar. Substituting renewable for fossil resources will take a new industrial revolution to avert the worst of the damage and establish a new international order. It can be done, and it can be done in time. The Solar Economy, by one of the world's most effective analysts and advocates, lays out the blueprints, showing how the political, economic and technological challenges can be met using indigenous, renewable and universally available resources, and the enormous opportunities and benefits that will flow from doing so.

Regeneration - Ending the Climate Crisis in One Generation (Paperback): Paul Hawken Regeneration - Ending the Climate Crisis in One Generation (Paperback)
Paul Hawken
R866 R587 Discovery Miles 5 870 Save R279 (32%) Ships in 12 - 17 working days

A radically new understanding of and practical approach to climate change by noted environmentalist Paul Hawken, creator of the New York Times bestseller Drawdown Regeneration offers a visionary new approach to climate change, one that weaves justice, climate, biodiversity, equity, and human dignity into a seamless tapestry of action, policy, and transformation that can end the climate crisis in one generation. It is the first book to describe and define the burgeoning regeneration movement spreading rapidly throughout the world. Regeneration describes how an inclusive movement can engage the majority of humanity to save the world from the threat of global warming, with climate solutions that directly serve our children, the poor, and the excluded. This means we must address current human needs, not future existential threats, real as they are, with initiatives that include but go well beyond solar, electric vehicles, and tree planting to include such solutions as the fifteen-minute city, bioregions, azolla fern, food localization, fire ecology, decommodification, forests as farms, and the number one solution for the world: electrifying everything. Paul Hawken and the nonprofit Regeneration Organization are launching a series of initiatives to accompany the book, including a streaming video series, curriculum, podcasts, teaching videos, and climate action software. Regeneration is the inspiring and necessary guide to inform the rapidly spreading climate movement.

The Capitalist Mode of Destruction - Austerity, Ecological Crisis and the Hollowing out of Democracy (Paperback): Costas... The Capitalist Mode of Destruction - Austerity, Ecological Crisis and the Hollowing out of Democracy (Paperback)
Costas Panayotakis
R769 Discovery Miles 7 690 Ships in 9 - 15 working days

The capitalist mode of destruction traces contemporary capitalism's economic, ecological and democratic crises. Combining insights from a range of disciplines, including psychology, sociology and political economy, Panayotakis interprets these crises as manifestations of a previously unrecognized contradiction: over time, the benefits of capitalism's technological dynamism tend to decline even as its threats to humanity and the planet continue to mount. To explain this contradiction, the book analyzes the production and distribution of surplus in capitalist societies and rethinks the concept of surplus itself. Identifying the public sector and households as sites of production no less important than the workplace, this book attributes capitalism's contradictions to working people's lack of control over the surplus they produce. This lack of control is undemocratic and threatens the planet. Only a classless society, in which working people democratically determine the size and use of the surplus they produce, can effectively respond to our current predicament. Recognizing such a democratic classless society as the essence of the communist ideal, the book argues that, far from becoming obsolete, this ideal is ever more indispensable. But since the necessity of this ideal does not guarantee its realization, the book also investigates the conditions necessary for the formation of an anti-capitalist alliance for social justice, democracy and ecological sustainability. -- .

James Douglas McCallum, Lowdon Wingo, Wilbur Thompson, H. W. Richardson, Joel Bergsman, …
R1,203 Discovery Miles 12 030 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

Originally published in 1971, this volume contains papers invited for a conference on economic research relevant to national urban development held in September of the same year. The conference pulled together researchers from both the United Kingdom and the United States who were interested in economic research on key issues of both countries' management of their urban areas. Papers are varied from those in the early stages of research to those whose research has been completed and all provide an insight into the increase of urbanisation present in the first world. This title will be of interest to students of environmental studies and economics.

Climate Change and Natural Disasters - Transforming Economies and Policies for a Sustainable Future (Paperback): Vinod Thomas Climate Change and Natural Disasters - Transforming Economies and Policies for a Sustainable Future (Paperback)
Vinod Thomas
R1,278 Discovery Miles 12 780 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

The start of the new millennium will be remembered for deadly climate-related disasters - the great floods in Thailand in 2011, Super Storm Sandy in the United States in 2012, and Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines in 2013, to name a few. In 2014, 17.5 million people were displaced by climate-related disasters, ten times more than the 1.7 million displaced by geophysical hazards. What is causing the increase in natural disasters and what effect does it have on the economy? Climate Change and Natural Disasters sends three messages: human-made factors exert a growing influence on climate-related disasters; because of the link to anthropogenic factors, there is a pressing need for climate mitigation; and prevention, including climate adaptation, ought not to be viewed as a cost to economic growth but as an investment. Ultimately, attention to climate-related disasters, arguably the most tangible manifestation of global warming, may help mobilize broader climate action. It can also be instrumental in transitioning to a path of low-carbon, green growth, improving disaster resilience, improving natural resource use, and caring for the urban environment. Vinod Thomas proposes that economic growth will become sustainable only if governments, political actors, and local communities combine natural disaster prevention and controlling climate change into national growth strategies. When considering all types of capital, particularly human capital, climate action can drive economic growth, rather than hinder it.

Legal Rights for Rivers - Competition, Collaboration and Water Governance (Hardcover): Erin O'Donnell Legal Rights for Rivers - Competition, Collaboration and Water Governance (Hardcover)
Erin O'Donnell
R4,135 Discovery Miles 41 350 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

In 2017 four rivers in Aotearoa New Zealand, India, and Colombia were given the status of legal persons, and there was a recent attempt to extend these rights to the Colorado River in the USA. Understanding the implications of creating legal rights for rivers is an urgent challenge for both water resource management and environmental law. Giving rivers legal rights means the law can see rivers as legal persons, thus creating new legal rights which can then be enforced. When rivers are legally people, does that encourage collaboration and partnership between humans and rivers, or establish rivers as another competitor for scarce resources? To assess what it means to give rivers legal rights and legal personality, this book examines the form and function of environmental water managers (EWMs). These organisations have legal personality, and have been active in water resource management for over two decades. EWMs operate by acquiring water rights from irrigators in rivers where there is insufficient water to maintain ecological health. EWMs can compete with farmers for access to water, but they can also strengthen collaboration between traditionally divergent users of the aquatic environment, such as environmentalists, recreational fishers, hunters, farmers, and hydropower. This book explores how EWMs use the opportunities created by giving nature legal rights, such as the ability to participate in markets, enter contracts, hold property, and enforce those rights in court. However, examination of the EWMs unearths a crucial and unexpected paradox: giving legal rights to nature may increase its legal power, but in doing so it can weaken community support for protecting the environment in the first place. The book develops a new conceptual framework to identify the multiple constructions of the environment in law, and how these constructions can interact to generate these unexpected outcomes. It explores EWMs in the USA and Australia as examples, and assesses the implications of creating legal rights for rivers for water governance. Lessons from the EWMs, as well as early lessons from the new 'river persons,' show how to use the law to improve river protection and how to begin to mitigate the problems of the paradox.

New Instruments of Environmental Governance? - National Experiences and Prospects (Hardcover): Andrew Jordan, Rudiger K.W.... New Instruments of Environmental Governance? - National Experiences and Prospects (Hardcover)
Andrew Jordan, Rudiger K.W. Wurzel, Anthony R. Zito
R4,444 Discovery Miles 44 440 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

Many highly industrialized countries are rapidly adopting new environmental policy instruments (NEPIs) such as eco-taxes, tradable permits, voluntary agreements and eco-labels. This apparently profound shift has prompted widespread claims that NEPIs have eclipsed regulation as the preferred tool of environmental policy. This volume offers a fresh perspective on the evolving tool-box of environmental policy by providing a systematic analysis of the policy and politics surrounding the adoption and use of the main NEPIs in a variety of countries. By blending political theories with fresh empirical material, the contributors to this interdisciplinary volume assess the claim that NEPIs have supplanted regulation, heralding a new era of environmental governance in which the state plays a secondary role in sustainability policy-making.

Riparian Areas of the Southwestern United States - Hydrology, Ecology, and Management (Hardcover, illustrated edition): Peter... Riparian Areas of the Southwestern United States - Hydrology, Ecology, and Management (Hardcover, illustrated edition)
Peter F. Ffolliott, Leonard F. Debano, Malchus B. Baker, Daniel G. Neary
R5,351 Discovery Miles 53 510 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

The demand for water resulting from massive population and economic growth in the southwestern U.S. overwhelmed traditional uses of riparian areas. As a consequence, many of these uniquely-structured ecosystems have been altered or destroyed. Within recent years people have become increasingly aware of the many uses and benefits of riparian zones and have emphasized ecosystem restoration and the resolution of multiple-use conflicts.

Riparian Areas of the Southwestern United States: Hydrology, Ecology, and Management offers a holistic overview of the effects of human activity on these fragile but critical ecosystems. Topics range from an overview of the organisms that inhabit these corridors to the research, planning, and management issues that will determine the preservation and/or future use of these areas. This comprehensive analysis will aid engineers, hydrologists, ecologists, land-use planners, non-governmental organizations, and policymakers in the ongoing attempt to find a balance among the demands of agriculture, recreation, conservation, and development.

Superfund's Future - What Will It Cost (Hardcover): Katherine Probst Superfund's Future - What Will It Cost (Hardcover)
Katherine Probst
R5,355 Discovery Miles 53 550 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

Reauthorization of the Superfund law continues to be a major source of controversy among political leaders and environmental activists. Some seek a major overhaul of the statute, arguing that considerable cleanup still needs to be done. Others oppose major changes, asserting that cleanup is almost complete. One of the most contentious issues in the debate is whether the taxes that once stocked the Superfund Trust Fund need to be reinstated. The answer depends in large part on how much money EPA will need to implement the Superfund program. To inform this discussion, the U.S. Congress asked Resources for the Future (RFF) to estimate the program's future costs. The results of this research are included in Superfund's Future, a book that will become an essential reference for all participants in the debate about one of the nation's most controversial environmental programs.

The Planetary Bargain - Corporate Social Responsibility Matters (Paperback, New): Michael Hopkins The Planetary Bargain - Corporate Social Responsibility Matters (Paperback, New)
Michael Hopkins
R1,292 Discovery Miles 12 920 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

Corporate scandals and lack of confidence in our largest institutions mean that corporate social responsibility (CSR) now matters more than ever. Encroaching on CSR are concepts such as corporate sustainability and corporate citizenship, and older concerns with business ethics, business in society and the ethical corporation. This significantly revised and updated version of The Planetary Bargain explains the relations among these concepts and reflects the author's new ideas and their new context. Enterprises across the world are waking up to the need for social responsibility towards shareholders and potential investors, managers and other employees, customers, business partners and contractors or suppliers, the natural environment and the communities within which they operate, including national governments and non-governmental organizations. Drawing on case studies of international companies and analysis of research from the past two decades, The Planetary Bargain shows how corporations can preserve their profitability while treating all stakeholders ethically and responsibly. It suggests a cooperative CSR strategy which creates prosperity for corporations and for the people they serve. It presents the case for a worldwide agreement, or 'planetary bargain', between private and public sectors, arguing that it is good for business and essential for future prosperity and stability.

The Question of Limits - A Historical Perspective on the Environmental Crisis (Hardcover): Christian Marouby The Question of Limits - A Historical Perspective on the Environmental Crisis (Hardcover)
Christian Marouby
R4,137 Discovery Miles 41 370 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

We have forgotten how to think about limits. Most philosophical approaches to the environment have focused primarily on the value of the natural world, the status of anthropocentrism and the Anthropocene, and the largely ethical questions of our impact on the world. While fully acknowledging these concerns, this book emphasizes the centrality of the confrontation between the imperative of growth that has been present since the Enlightenment and our belated rediscovery of limits. The expression "Limits to Growth", the title of a famous book from 1972 by Donella H. Meadows et al., may have passed into a common discourse, yet the notion of limits itself remains insufficiently theorized, or even reflected upon, in the current movement of environmental advocacy. Sometimes it even seems as if there is an effort to avoid it. This book argues that, on the contrary, we can only resolve the present global challenges by confronting the question of limits and making it central to our reflection. This entails discussing the long history of thinking about limits in which Malthus is the most infamous figure, but which also includes such major participants as John Stuart Mill and Karl Marx. Ultimately, The Question of Limits contends that the value of embracing limits extends beyond the environment and offers the potential to become a transformative social good. The Question of Limits will be of great interest to students and scholars working at the intersection of environmental studies, economics, intellectual history and philosophy.

Ian Bethell-Bennett, Sophia Rolle, Jessica Minnis, Fevzi Okumus
R2,630 Discovery Miles 26 300 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

Caribbean small island developing states (SIDS) have witnessed great upheaval and change over the last decade and a half - from the global economic recession of 2008, the 2010 and 2021 earthquakes in Haiti, to hurricanes that devastated islands like Jamaica, Barbuda, Dominica and The Bahamas, volcanic eruptions, and health crises. These events are reminders of how vulnerable Caribbean SIDS are to external and internal shocks; today Caribbean SIDS are grappling with how to restart their economies and embrace a "new normal" in the wake of disasters and the sharp losses in tourism. Pandemics, Disasters, Sustainability, Tourism examines the resilience of Caribbean SIDS and their tourism industries from the perspectives of culture, economy, environment, politics, psychology, social justice, and socio-historical context. Pandemics, Disasters, Sustainability, Tourism's broad-based topics engage scholars, students, and the public in discourse regarding Caribbean SIDS' resilient Island economies that, facing calamity, implement new initiatives to forge environmentally sound policies for sustainable tourism and hospitality development.

Understanding Environmental Policy Processes - Cases from Africa (Paperback): James Keeley, Ian Scoones Understanding Environmental Policy Processes - Cases from Africa (Paperback)
James Keeley, Ian Scoones
R1,409 Discovery Miles 14 090 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

A critical analysis of the "post-Rio consensus" on environment and development which questions the role of particular forms of internationalized elite scientific expertise. It asks why certain understandings of enviromental change "stick" with such tenacity. In exploring this, the authors unravel the politics of knowledge surrounding policymaking, looking particularly at Ethiopia, Mali and Zimbabwe and their land and soils management. The book also looks at prospects for more inclusive, participatory forms of policymaking.

Children, Citizenship and Environment - #SchoolStrike Edition (Paperback, 2nd edition): Bronwyn Hayward Children, Citizenship and Environment - #SchoolStrike Edition (Paperback, 2nd edition)
Bronwyn Hayward
R1,064 Discovery Miles 10 640 Ships in 9 - 15 working days

In this significantly revised second edition of Bronwyn Hayward's acclaimed book Children Citizenship and Environment, she examines how students, with teachers, parents, and other activists, can learn to take effective action to confront the complex drivers of the current climate crisis including: economic and social injustice, colonialism and racism. The global school strikes demand adults, governments, and businesses take far-reaching action in response to our climate crisis. The school strikes also remind us why this important youthful activism urgently needs the support of all generations. The #SchoolStrike edition of Children Citizenship and Environment includes all new contributions by youth, indigenous and disability activists, researchers and educators: Raven Cretney, Mehedi Hasan, Sylvia Nissen, Jocelyn Papprill, Kate Prendergast, Kera Sherwood O' Regan, Mia Sutherland, Amanda Thomas, Sara Tolbert, Sarah Thomson, Josiah Tualamali'i, and Amelia Woods. As controversial, yet ultimately hopeful, as it was when first published, Bronwyn Hayward develops her 'SEEDS' model of 'strong ecological citizenship' for a school strike generation. The SEEDS of citizenship education encourage students to develop skills for; Social agency, Environmental education, Embedded justice, Decentred deliberation and Self-transcendence. This approach to citizenship supports young citizens' democratic imagination and develops their 'handprint' for social justice. This ground-breaking book will be of interest to a wide audience, in particular teachers and professionals who work in Environmental Citizenship Education, as well as students and community activists with an interest in environmental change, democracy and intergenerational justice.

Lester R. Brown, Janet Larsen, Bernie Fischlowitz-Roberts
R1,204 Discovery Miles 12 040 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

In this study, the award-winning environmental analyst Lester Brown and his colleagues have charted progress in building the eco-economy - an economy in harmony with the Earth's ecosystems, not undermining them. This edition of the biennial reader highlights 12 key trends, from population growing by 80 million annually, to ice melting, to the boom in use of solar cells. It explains, for example, why wind-generated electricity is emerging as the foundation of the new post-fossil fuel energy economy. It also specifically investigates China's desertification problem, the issues surrounding food production, and the challenge of controlling climate change. Drawing on research and analysis by the Earth Policy Institute, the reader monitors the shift from the old economy to the new.

The Rice Economy of Asia (Hardcover): Randolph Barker, Robert W. Herdt, Beth Rose The Rice Economy of Asia (Hardcover)
Randolph Barker, Robert W. Herdt, Beth Rose
R5,358 Discovery Miles 53 580 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

To millions of people in the world, rice is the centre of existence, especially in Asia, where more than 90 percent of the world's rice is grown. This book is about the trends and changes that have occurred in the Asian rice economy since World War II, but particularly since the introduction of new varieties of rice and modern technology in the mid-1960s. Although there is now a vast amount of literature and statistical data on various aspects of the subject, no single comprehensive treatment has previously been prepared. The Rice Economy of Asia not only provides such a treatment but also presents a clear picture of some of the critical issues dealing with productivity and equity --- as a glance at the table of contents will show. In addition to 18 chapters, there are an extensive bibliography, 150 tables, and 50 charts. The volume, as a whole, should be interesting and useful to decision makers at national and international levels, to professionals, and to students of development.

The Economics of Renewable Energy in the Gulf (Hardcover): Hisham M. Akhonbay The Economics of Renewable Energy in the Gulf (Hardcover)
Hisham M. Akhonbay
R4,140 Discovery Miles 41 400 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

The Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC) has been at the epicenter of global energy markets because of its substantial endowment of hydrocarbons. Yet countries in the region have also stated their intent to be global leaders in renewable energy. This collection explores the drivers for the widespread adoption of renewable energy around the GCC, the need for renewable energy and the policy-economic factors that can create success. All six countries within the GCC have plans to include renewable energy power generation in their energy mix for various reasons including: a growing demand for electricity because of increasing populations, an increasing government fiscal deficit due to inefficient subsidies, the need to diversify the economy and global pressure to meet climate change requirements. However, the decision of when and by how much to introduce renewable energy is fraught with complications. In this book, a stellar cast of regional policy and academic experts explore the reasons behind these renewable energy plans and the potential impediments to success, whether it be the declining cost of producing energy from hydrocarbons, an infrastructure which needs to be updated, social acceptance, lack of financing and even harsh weather. Weighing up all these factors, the book considers the route forward for renewable energy in the Gulf region. The Economics of Renewable Energy in the Gulf offers an excellent examination of the adoption of renewable energy in the area. It will be of great interest to academic researchers and policy makers alike, particularly those working in the areas of energy economics, public policy and international relations.
