Life is lived one day at a time. Each day brings its own
challenges, and any day may need a word of guidance and
reassurance. Having completed his trilogy of contemporary parables
- a story for every week of the three-year Church Lectionary - Tom
Gordon turns his hand, in an equally compelling, contemporary
fashion, to the day-by-day nature of our living. Through stories
and fables, tales of people and places, historical incidents and
personal experiences, he encourages you to 'look well' to the
insights and inspiration you might need. If your day is about
survival, Tom's daily reflections are a reminder that you are not
alone in the struggle. If you are facing something new, you will
find different perspectives. And if you are simply looking for a
thought to carry with you, or a meaningful illustration for a talk
or a sermon, Tom offers you a rich resource. This book will
encourage you to 'look well to this day' and to do so with Tom's
wisdom and thoughtfulness.

Why is suffering the common lot of all people everywhere - believers
and non-believers alike - and why does it seem that the world is out of
control when it comes to the problem of pain and suffering?
These are not easy questions, and in reality, you will never know the
answers completely until you see our Lord face to face in heaven.
Nevertheless, the Bible does give you some answers.
Who’s in Charge of a World that Suffers? includes an informative and
inspirational new introduction by Franklin Graham that speaks to
today’s reader in the midst of painful circumstances.
In this book, originally titled Till Armageddon, world-renowned
evangelist Billy Graham uncovers the clues the scriptures offer you to
this universal question--the question of suffering. Readers will
discover what the Bible says about:
- Why Christians are not exempt from suffering
- Living above your circumstances
- The place of prayer in suffering
- God’s promises for those who suffer
- And much more
Christians are called to learn what it means to trust God in every
circumstance, and to live for Him no matter what comes our way. It is
essential to think more clearly about suffering, and to rearrange your
priorities so that when your personal armageddons come, you will not be
taken by surprise or be unprepared. Christian readers, pastors, Bible
study leaders, and anyone questioning where God fits into suffering
will find encouragement in this message of hope for a broken world.
John Bell collects scripts from his radio show 'Thought for the

and international importance.
Pain is NOT the end of your story.
Katie Souza was a career criminal, and after being convicted of a number of felonies, she was sent to federal prison to serve almost twelve years. While serving what would be her final prison sentence, Katie encountered God in a way that dramatically changed her life. She immediately became an outspoken advocate for Jesus, and her infectious love for Him caused many women inside her cell block to accept Him as their Savior.
Her story is a vivid demonstration of the desperate need we have for the healing of soul wounds-the often unidentified impediment that holds us back. Through this remarkable story and teaching, you will be able to find a pathway to healing and receive the blessings God is pouring out.
Experiencing God in Late Medieval and Early Modern England
demonstrates that experiences of divine revelation, both biblical
and contemporary, were central to late medieval and early modern
English religion. The book sheds light on previously under-explored
notions about divine revelation and the role these notions played
in shaping large portions of English thought and belief. Bringing
together a wide variety of source materials, from contemplative
works and accounts of revelatory experiences to biblical
commentaries, devotionals, and religious imagery, David J. Davis
argues that in the period there was a collective representation of
divine revelation as a source of human knowledge, which transcended
other religious and intellectual divisions. Not only did most
people think that divine revelation, through a ravishing encounter
with God, was possible, but also divine revelation was understood
to be the pinnacle of religious experience and a source of pure
understanding. The book highlights a common discourse running
through the sources that underpinned this collective representation
of how human beings experienced the divine, and it demonstrates a
continual effort across large swathes of English religion to
prepare an individual's soul for an encounter with the divine,
through different spiritual disciplines and devotional practices.
Over a period of several centuries this discourse and the larger
culture of revelation provided an essential structure and
legitimacy both to contemporary claims of divine revelation and the
biblical precedents that contemporary experiences were modelled
after. This discourse detailed the physical, metaphysical, and
epistemological features of how a human being was understood to
experience divine revelation, providing a means to delimit and
define what happened when an individual was rapture by God.
Finally, the book situates the experience of revelation within the
wider context of knowledge and identifies the ways that claims to
divine revelation were legitimated as well as stigmatized based on
this common understanding of the experience of rapture.

Over 1 Million Sold For half a century, J. I. Packer's classic has
helped Christians around the world discover the wonder, the glory,
and the joy of knowing God. Stemming from Packer's profound
theological knowledge, Knowing God brings together two key facets
of the Christian faith--knowing about God and knowing God through a
close relationship with Jesus Christ. Written in an engaging and
practical tone, this thought-provoking work seeks to renew and
enrich our understanding of God. Named by Christianity Today as one
of the top fifty books that have shaped evangelicals, Knowing God
is now among the iconic books featured in the IVP Signature
Collection. A new companion Bible study is also available to help
readers explore these biblical themes for themselves.
It is God’s design, desire, and intention to empower humans and entrust
them to participate in the ongoing creativity of the universe. Yet a
look at our history and the world around us shows that the story of
most men is being entrusted with power and having that power bring harm
to themselves and those under their care.
What’s gone wrong? When can you entrust a man with power?
In Becoming a King, Morgan Snyder shares that when we take a deeper
pass at the external problems around us, we begin to see the problems
within our souls. Yet Morgan suggests there is hope in an ancient path
that leads men to become trustworthy kings.
Journey with Morgan as he walks alongside men (and the women who love
and encourage them) to rediscover this path of inner transformation.
Becoming a King is an invitation into a radical reconstruction of much
of what we’ve come to believe about God, ourselves, and the meaning of
life. It’s an invitation to a rare and remarkable fellowship of
like-hearted kings and an honest conversation about what power and
responsibility look like for men in our world today.
Traveling the path isn’t cheap. It isn’t easy. It isn’t quick.
But it is the heroic journey detailed within the pages of Becoming a
King that leads to real life; to men becoming as solid and mighty as
oak trees, teeming with strength and courage to bring to a hurting
world; and to our sons, husbands, brothers, and friends becoming the
kind of kings to whom God can entrust his kingdom.
Women are bombarded with ideas of perfection--and tips for how to
achieve it--every day. From her work to her looks to her parenting,
today's modern woman is expected to strive to be picture perfect in
every way. As a result, calls for authenticity and imperfection are
on the rise. Yet, deep down, most of us still want to achieve
perfection. Why? The desire to be perfect, says Kim Hyland, is
actually a God-given urge. After all, we were made for Eden. But
there is a difference between perfection and perfectionism, which
is our attempt to achieve perfection on our own, by our own
strength, and for our own purposes--the original temptation in the
Garden. In this freeing book, Hyland offers women a stirring
manifesto for acknowledging their limitations and embracing the
perfection of God through his grace. This is a book for every woman
who gives 110% and yet feels shame when one little thing goes
wrong.
