				 Books > Religion & Spirituality > Aspects of religions (non-Christian) > Religious life & practice > General
These poems deal with how God, with tender love, powerful wisdom and patient invitation, intersects the lives of people, and how we may, if we wish, respond to such intervention. They touch on a variety of circumstances and influences that are the common experience of all, whether Christian or non-Christian: confusion, decision-making, defeat, disappointment, entanglement, forgiveness, marriage, national life, personal private devotion, prayer, resentment, success. It is hoped that the index of scriptural references will encourage the reader to build worthwhile bridges between scriptural truths and daily living; that the built-in metrical arrangements in the poems will encourage the singing of some of the poems as hymns, and that the content, convictions and connections expressed in each poem will, after the final poem is read, enable the reader to respond positively and sincerely to this powerful invitation from the triune God: I kept the cruse of oil from running dry; The loaves and fishes I did multiply; I rescued Daniel from the lion's den; I even gave my life for you. But then Your doubts still hold you in captivity. I'm in control, my child Just trust in Me

This book is comprised of a compendium of motivational essays that are intended to stimulate the mind and stir the heart toward sensing the magnificence of the Almighty Lord, Allah (Glory be to Him, the Most High), as also to experience the beauty and wisdom of Islam, and to imbibe the principles and precepts of life taught by Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). The style of these discourses is generally intended to educate both Muslims and non-Muslims on the spirit and values of Islam, and on recognizing humanity and human attributes within oneself, as well as to share Islamic ethics, morality, philosophies, and principles so as to promote the understanding of Islam and to illuminate the purpose of life. Each essay is motivated by several particularly insightful verses from the Qur'an and traditions and sayings of the Prophet, which in themselves are enlightening to read and reflect upon.
We have many words that can describe our seasons of life. These words can lead to God's promises of love, mercy, and compassion. The Father wants to meet with you, refresh you, and encourage you...one word at a time. Jenny invites you to remember to live each day in the Light of God's faithfulness as she equips you with scriptures to remind you that, In Christ, every moment is a God moment. This devotional book is designed to be a study tool adaptable for group study, Sunday School lessons, devotions, or personal quiet times with the Lord. JENNY PFISTER is a powerful communicator, Bible teacher, and speaker whom God has anointed and used in a mighty way to touch the lives of countless women and men who are seeking the Lord. Gifted and lead by the Holy Spirit, Jenny thrives on teaching the Word of God through weekly interdenominational women's Bible studies and a weekly TV series called One Brushstroke at a Time. She also leads and teaches at women's retreats and conferences, offers spiritual direction and counsel to many, and regularly preaches and leads worship services at her home church, Breath of God Worship Ministry in Buckhannon, West Virginia. A native of Baltimore, Maryland, Jenny felt overwhelming love for Jesus at an early age, and sensed God calling her to her first teaching ministry at the age of 22 at The Whitehouse Fellowship, a singles ministry at Timonium Presbyterian Church. At the same time, while teaching music at a private Jewish school in Owings Mills, Maryland, Jenny fell in love with the Old Testament. Layer upon layer, it exploded with life and relevance and became the canvas on which the Lord would paint a perfect picture of unity, truth, and fulfillment of the Old and New Testaments. The Lord was gradually birthing in Jenny the ministry that she would later establish, Brushstroke Ministries. After moving to West Virginia to serve in the Southern Baptist Convention as the state's keyboard and piano specialist, Jenny began to conduct women's Bible studies in homes and churches. In February 2001, she stepped out in faith and founded Brushstroke Ministries, a three-fold ministry of worship, prayer, and study of the Word of God for women of all denominations. Her fervent passion for the Word, along with her spiritual gifting and keen ear for the Lord's direction, has been Jenny's motivation for writing this series of devotional books. She paints a picture with her words, one brushstroke at a time, capturing the beauty of the Lord and His unfailing love for us. Those associated with this blessed ministry pray that as you read these devotionals, you will be touched by His Peace and find comfort in His Presence. To Him be all the glory

When religion and family turn on you, what is left? This is the amazing story of a young man willing to do whatever is necessary to maintain a relationship with his children. After growing up in a polygamist family and life-style, Jason Williams is given zero chance for salvation from the leaders of the FLDS. His wife and children are kidnapped from him and he is instructed to have nothing to do with them. Instead of giving in, read the true story of how Jason took on the FLDS leaders and saved his children.
This book is a detailed study on the nature of the Church as found in the New Testament. It is also a defense of the antiquity of the Baptists, showing that it is of neither Protestant nor Reformation era origin. It contains an analysis of those people and churches known as Anabaptists.

Are you locked up, locked out, and pressured by the way the governing powers are forcing their will on you? Are you fed up with where the circumstances of life are taking you? Are you feeling the pressure of the cares and uncertain security in the society in which you live? God, our heavenly Father, has a plan to rescue you from this evil world in which you live (Galatians 1:4). There is another kingdom that God has prepared for those who believe in His Son, Jesus Christ. In this kingdom, it is possible to live in peace, above the cares of life. Many today are searching for answers to the weary life and present-day pressures. The purpose of Jesus' coming was to give every believer a rich and satisfying life (John 10:10). Learning to live in God's kingdom, while continuing to deal with the corruption of an evil world, is a miracle that comes only by the abundant grace of God, His divine influence being applied to one's spirit, soul, and body. Here, Dr. Lewis seeks to introduce you to God's fundamental nature, qualities, attributes, and characteristics, and the ability of the believer, under the power of the Holy Spirit, to live by the precepts of His kingdom and overcome the works of darkness.

Raised in a biased family where wrath ruled; finally settling into the arms of her high-school sweetheart in matrimony, only to later be torn apart by a devastating divorce, came his confession of a long-held secret-only years after their blessed reconciliation and conversion to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. What is your first thought when you hear the word cancer? It's probably not a good one. Cancer changes us, some of us for good others for bad. Ovarian cancer changed me. I became stronger, determined and empowered. From being a listener I became a writer. This book is about my journey through Chemotherapy. As I told my story to family and friends, I discovered that besides being concerned, they were starving for information. This topic and what a person is experiencing along the way was new to most of them. It changed the direction of my life and helped others to look at cancer from a new perspective. You'll laugh with me, maybe you'll cry, but hopefully you'll be come a wiser person.

How do you know what God's direction is for your life? How can you find and more clearly understand the wondrous plans "He" has for you? Would you like to uncover the hidden passion that's lying in wait inside of you? In any economy-good or bad-do you ever fret about bills and money? Do you experience troubling nagging stressful life issues? Have you been skeptical or had a careless attitude about whether dark, evil forces are real or not? Would you like to encounter a fresh and enlightening simplistic perspective concerning this issue and spiritual warfare? Finally, here is an inspiring, modern-day true story of discovery that will give thought-provoking insight and answers to these and other important questions and problematic dilemmas. Author Jack Kovnas does not tell you how to pray as much as he shows you through his own teaching examples of actual prayer events. With deep humility, he candidly reveals how sinfully and shamefully he lived the beginning stages of his Christian life-without prayer-but then turned completely around as he uncovered genuine happiness "with" prayer. Inside this book you will find a declaration by somebody who learned the value of praying and trusting God-who willingly gave up house and possessions, and then watched in amazement as they returned. This informative prayer-ride journey is a testimony to what God
can and will do for any and all of us. As Jack humbly and assuredly
attests-even though it is his own true life story, every sincere,
caring word on each and every page is not about him-it is about
"you" ""Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not upon
thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He
shall direct thy paths.""
The words of Jesus have fascinated men and women of all ages in virtually every country in the world. For millions of people his teachings are the basis of relationships within and between families and with neighbors. They are the daily ground rules for every day conduct in countless households and societies.
"A Glimpse of Glory is a wonderful testament to God's love and promises from one who experienced death-only reluctantly returning to life as we know it from the hereafter. The author wipes away the trepidation even Christians feel toward death and an inkling of what comes next while sharing his own humble beginnings, rugged upbringing and experiences. Rick East is the real deal and has a great message in his acceptance of Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and what he believes God wants him to share with as many as possible. This story is first rate with a vivid emotional impact and obviously has God's blessing." -Nick Weyland, fellow author and Christian brother A Glimpse of Glory A mysterious illness caused Rick East to lapse into respiratory failure the afternoon of December 25, 2012. Rick discovered his spirit was in heaven and was being coached by the Holy Spirit. Rick saw the city of heaven and had many conversations with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit answered questions that have puzzled Christians for years.

COURAGE FOR THE JOURNEY assembles a collection of wisdom to ignite courage, hope, and strength in those caught in the inevitable storms of life. In his 1965 masterpiece I Had Trouble in Getting to Solla Sollew, Dr. Seuss observed, And I learned there are troubles of more than one kind. Some come from ahead and some come from behind. Adversities arise in all shapes and sizes. The death of a loved one, divorce, business failure, job loss, health issues, and natural disasters are only but a few examples. None of us is immune from the life events that can shake or even obliterate our foundations. Personal disasters leave us dazed and shell-shocked. We find ourselves standing in the rubble of our lives, wondering how to move forward and what to do next. Winston Churchill asserted, If you are going through Hell, keep going This is sage advice for anyone in distress. The question is how, when you have totally lost direction, do you keep going? When fear, discouragement, failure, loss, and regret have taken firm root in the gardens of our heart, mind, and soul, how do you vanquish them? During adversity, attitude will always dictate outcome. The key to overcoming any obstacle is to tune out the negative noise of the storm and society in general. The positive emotions of courage, faith, hope, perseverance, and peace contain far greater power than negative emotions. COURAGE FOR THE JOURNEY explores strategies for: Finding courage and faith in place of fear Finding hope and perseverance in place of discouragement Finding opportunity and choice in place of failure Finding clarity and accepting change in place of loss Finding recovery, reinvention, and peace in place of regret

My intention in writing this book is to share the intimacies of my heart, leading up to a personal, powerful, and life-changing experience of God's unconditional love. First for the clergy and teachers of faith, this book is given to you for the benefit of those who are in your care and second yet foremost, for those who have been surpressing pain within their own and often times repressed experience. My hope is that in sharing my struggle to let God be God, and do what God does best, namely to love those who will come to Him with all of their brokenness and need, that you too may come closer to peace in your own life. Can you find identity in one of these groups? * Those who have been hurt by fear and insecurity based upon a harshly taught understanding of God's law without real knowledge of His love;* Those having sadly experienced divorce and the guilt coming from that failure with its painful confusion, what really happened;* Catholic women practicing what is termed by the Catholic Church as as artificial birth control and its affect on their peace of mind;* Those troubled by the Catholic Church's requirement of integral sacramental confession as the only ordinary means of receiving forgivness for sin;* Protestants and Evangelicals counting on Baptism alone, apart from any growth in personal righteousness, as affecting their eternal reality.Did you find yourself listed above? Today there are many who are under spiritual oppression and needlessly suffering separation from real knowledge of God's unconditional love for them. The question everyone needs to answer is this, can I receive God's mercy and love and can I return that love to Him? This capacity is evidence of and at the very heart of salvation |
