Blu-Ray > Horror
Extended cut of the third film in the camcorder horror franchise. A
prequel to the first two films, this instalment goes back to Katie
(Katie Featherstone)'s childhood in the late 1980s. Katie and her
sister, Kristi (Sprague Grayden), still living with their parents
in the family home, make their first contact with the spirit,
Bloody Mary. Mary, who so mercilessly haunted the adult Katie in
the first two films, is at first a friendly, if strange, presence.
However, as time goes on, her unseen presence begins to torment the
two girls. Much of the ensuing chaos is - as in the first two films
- captured on video.

Anna Biller directs this comedy horror starring Samantha Robinson,
Jeffrey Vincent Parise and Laura Waddell which pays homage to the
Technicolor thrillers of the 1960s and 70s. A young and beautiful
witch named Elaine (Robinson) uses her magic to devise spells and
craft concoctions which will grant her what she desires: a man who
loves her. Inconveniently however, her creations work too well and
every man she seduces ends up dead. She finally finds the perfect
man for her, but her willful desire to feel loved may send her over
the edge and into a heady brew of passion, madness and death.
Horror co-written and directed by Gilbert Adler. After her brother
Caleb (Corey Feldman) goes missing, Katherine Verdoux (Erika
Eleniak) seeks the help of private eye Rafe Guttman (Dennis Miller)
to try and track him down. Rafe soon discovers Caleb is under the
spell of Madame Lilith (Angie Everhart), a powerful vampire who
runs a seedy brothel on the edge of town. Bravely setting out on a
dangerous rescue mission, Rafe and Katherine must overcome the full
force of Lilith and her evil followers as they attempt to bring
Caleb back alive.
Double bill of documentary-style horror films. 'The Blair Witch
Project' (1998) follows three students from Burkittsville - Heather
(Heather Donahue), Josh (Joshua Leonard) and Michael (Michael
Williams) - as they head into the woods to investigate the local
legend of the Blair Witch, a spirit blamed for the deaths of
various children. After trekking deep into the forest, the group
lose their map, quickly become lost and are forced to spend extra
days trying to find their way back out. Confronted by terrifying
noises and with strange artefacts appearing around their camp,
panic sets in as the students are driven further into the woods by
an unseen and sinister force. In 'Blair Witch' (2016), college
student James Donahue (James Allen McCune), accompanied by a group
of friends, ventures into Maryland's Black Hills Forest in search
of his missing sister who disappeared 20 years earlier while
searching for evidence of the Blair Witch. After an uneventful hike
deep into the woods, the group begin to feel a menacing presence in
their camp as the night draws on. When a number of mysterious
figures then appear in the trees around the camp, the panicked
group begin to realise that the legend is real and more sinister
than they could have imagined...

Sumptuous period backdrops and a wildly melodramatic soundtrack add
to the spooky gothic atmosphere of this classic slice of
sex-fuelled gore from the Hammer House of Horror. Ingrid Pitt plays
Camilla, a beautiful blood-sucking lesbian vampire with milky white
skin and a thirst for the blood of pretty young virgins. When she
attacks Laura (Pippa Steel), the daughter of General von Spielsdorf
(Peter Cushing), the general enlists the help of Baron Joachim von
Hartog (Douglas Wilmer) to overcome the vampiress and bring an end
to the terror and bloodshed.
In the aftermath of the war with the Governor, we see Rick and the group of survivors fostering a thriving community in the safe haven of the prison.
Sadly, in this brutal world, happiness is short-lived and walkers are no match for a greater dangers brewing inside the fences.
The group's home and new way of life will be thoroughly tested, and they will find themselves prepared to do whatever it takes to survive.

musician Adam (Hiddleston) is a centuries-old vampire who has
become disenchanted with the technologically-advanced modern world.

younger sister Ava (Wasikowska) threatens their relationship. The
film also stars John Hurt and Anton Yelchin.
Double bill of supernatural suspense horrors directed by James Wan.
In 'Insidious' (2010) Josh (Patrick Wilson) and Renai Lambert (Rose
Byrne) move with their three children to a beautiful new family
home. But their happy, carefree existence soon spirals into
unmitigated terror when their son Dalton (Ty Simpkins) is knocked
unconscious and falls into a coma, triggering a series of
increasingly disturbing and gruesome occurrences. 'Insidious -
Chapter 2' (2013) picks up from where the last film left off when
the Lamberts have moved into a new home with their son Dalton and
initially things are going well, but as the time passes it is
revealed to them that whatever force was haunting them before still
isn't finished with them. They are then tasked with uncovering what
it is that ties them to the spirit world while desperately trying
to hold on to their sanity.

'60's British B-movie chiller featuring voodoo, the supernatural
and general dark arts. A comely young British teacher takes up a
remote posting in darkest Africa where the local juju man lays a
hex on her. She has a breakdown and is forced to return to the UK.
There, she takes up a post at a rural school where all appears well
on the surface. It turns out, however, that the place is a hotbed
of witchery and darkness and that a virgin sacrifice is planned for
the near future. The film was directed by Cyril Frankel, who'd made
Hammer's 1960 child abuse drama 'Never Take Sweets From a
Stranger', and the script was by Quatermass author Nigel Kneale.
Their depiction of sinister undercurrents in a pastoral setting
wasn't sinister enough for the BBFC, however, who only granted the
film an 'A' certificate. Hammer persuaded them to reconsider, but
this accomplished film still failed to find an audience.

Elijah Wood stars in this remake of director William Lustig's 1980
horror classic of the same name. To say that Frank (Wood) is a
troubled young man would be an understatement - as the ever-growing
number of young women he has murdered since the death of his mother
(America Olivo), with whom he enjoyed an unhealthily close
relationship, demonstrates only too well. Frank runs a mannequin
store and likes to apply the scalps of his victims to the models in
his spare time. However, when beautiful young artist Anna (Nora
Arnezeder) wanders into the store and talks about making use of its
resources for an exhibition she is planning, she presents Frank
with a troubling quandary. Anna appears to offer the possibility of
a human relationship that will fill the void created by his
mother's death, but she also excites his desire to kill and
possess. Will Frank be able to overcome his homicidal urges?
Inventive horror in which a sound engineer working in the confines
of an Italian movie studio becomes dangerously absorbed in his
work. The tale is set in the 1970s, when Italian horror films,
particularly those belonging to the 'giallo' genre, were known for
being shot soundless, with the effects and language tracks added
later so that the movies could be dubbed into multiple languages
and marketed more effectively abroad. The British sound engineer,
Gilderoy (Toby Jones), works in one such studio, stabbing and
otherwise assaulting vegetables to provide the requisite sounds for
a horror flick. However, the more time Gilderoy spends in the
studio, the more he is drawn into the world of the films on which
he works. Some of the horror seems to stem from within, as Gilderoy
revisits moments from his past, but it leaves him precariously
poised between the real world and the imaginative realm represented
by the films...
