Information
Akua Intaglio Ink was originally formulated for intaglio printmaking, however this ink can also be applied with a brayer for relief printmaking, monotype, and collagraphs; and it will print from any plastic, wood, linoleum or metal plate. It is a soy based ink which is made with high quality lightfast pigments. The inks have a thick consistency with minimal water content and contain no toxic driers - this means a longer working time. The ink cleans up easily with a dry rag followed by soap and water. Inexpensive liquid dish detergent can be used. Never use toxic solvents. Prints can be re-soaked immediately after printing if handled carefully. Once the print is dry, Akua Intaglio is permanent. Ink will never skin or harden in the jar or the ink slab, meaning minimal ink is wasted. Wiping the plate with Akua Intaglio is easier than wiping oil-based ink, meaning you need to spend less time cleaning up.

This heavyweight roller is perfectly smooth allowing for a greater
quantity of ink to be held and in doing so also means a greater
amount of coverage. A wet roller can simply be turned over
and the handle doubles as a stand for cleaner working. Made
from a hand-ground concentric EPDM rubber surface, which means it
is flexible yet resistant to weathering. The EDPM rubber is of
medium hardness and gives excellent pickup and deposit of all types
of ink. This tool is the choice for the artisan printmaker
with good recovery to indentation, and resistance to common
printing chemicals. Perfect for printmaking, wood engraving and
woodcut.
This set of Lino Carving Tool Handles includes 12 handles, which
will fit Essdee lino cutting blades. Please note that no blades are
supplied with this set.
Pigment info: PR5Series 44oz (118ml) squeeze bottle - Akua Liquid Pigment was originally developed for monotype printmaking, but it can also used for other techniques such as Japanese woodcut and painting on paper. The Liquid Pigment contains no chalk, fillers dryers or polymers and the addition of honey give the colours a brilliant, vibrant appearance that dry with a luminous finish. It has a slow drying formula which will allow for an extended working time to create images on a monotype plate. It is thick in consistency which is perfect for both additive and reductive monotype techniques. It can be mixed into Akua Intaglio Inks or the Transparent Base to create new colours, it can also be printed on top or beneath Akua Intaglio inks for multi-plate overlays. All colours are lightfast. The Liquid Pigment is rolled directly onto the plate rather than transferring the ink from a separate slab, saving time and money. The pigment can easily be modified to adjust the sheen, thickness and transparency. It prints beautifully on dry paper as it stays wet on the plate, eliminating the need for prior soaking, blotting, flattening and drying. Where the paper will not stretch or shrink, this means that your print will be registered perfectly. The pigment cleans up easily with just water and a rag. As there are no suspension agents added, pigment can settle at the bottom of the bottle. There is a mixing ball enclosed in the squeeze bottle to allow you to easily mix the pigment.

The water-based, high-quality aqua-Linoprint colours contain natural binders such as gum Arabic as well as organic/inorganic pigments. They are easy to apply due to optimum open-times and result in even, sharp prints with fast drying times (wipe-resistant after approx. 15 minutes).
All colours offer maximum light fastness (4 and 5 stars) and an excellent intensity (especially black). The formulation for the colours in tubes and jars is the same. Due to its fluid consistency all aqua-Linoprint colours can easily be applied to different surfaces such as paper, felt, cardboard and suitable also for wood engraving and printing with various materials.
The smooth colours are of pleasant odour and can be overprinted with other colours. They are intermixable, ready to use and can be diluted with water.
