Bad Scene, is an LP of guitar improvisations and songs by the multigenerational improvisational protest-duo Eugene Chadbourne and Jim McHugh. Made mostly in Eugene's living room in Greensboro, NC on Jan 21st and 23rd, 2020 during a family visit between Sunwatchers tours by the NC native McHugh, Bad Scene was recorded live in single takes to Jim's portable multitrack rig. Augmented by overdubs in some cases to create chamber-quartets or full-band vibes, all songs remain, at their hearts, duets.Jim McHugh is a musician and producer from Reidsville, NC now based in Brooklyn. He is founder of the jazz-punk band Sunwatchers.Dr. Eugene Chadbourne has been active as an improviser, songwriter, protest singer, collaborator, composer and producer of DIY releases since the early 1970's, when he left the US as a Conscientious Objector to the Viet Nam War. Based in Greensboro, NC since his 1982 relocation from Manhattan, Doc has played, toured, recorded and released records with everyone from Derek Bailey to Frank Lowe to Sun City Girls to Camper Van Beethoven to John Zorn to Brian Jackson to The Violent Femmes to Anthony Braxton to Keiji Haino to Han Bennink to Peter Brotzman to Jimmy Carl Black and Sunwatchers.

This is the perfect chance to immerse yourself in the uplifting sounds of a perfect country morning, from the comfort of your own home. At dawn, in our countryside, there is a pronounced peak in bird singing activity. This is especially noticeable for about an hour after the first light in temperate zone woodlands during spring and early summer. At this time, male birds defend their territories and attract females with their songs. The recordings on this CD are a selection of British woodland recordings, taken from the extensive collection of the wildlife section of the British Library sound archive.

Another Dark Age captures the schizophrenic culture that exists in one pocket of the underground. This V/A release reaches across oceans and continents to connect music from four obscure projects. From Providence (USA) to Melbourne (Australia), ADA delves deep into the noise and experimental scenes of both cities. Form a Log is a trio of which Ren Schofield (AKA Container) is a member. Their twisted analog improvisations are as disciplined as they are chaotic. 'In the Streets' is a chugging percussive jam that winds its way to-and-fro, between noise and entropy. Phantom Selector, Victim and Carrier are artists who have released diverse music on cassettes under ever-changing monikers. Tortured vocals, eerie textures and cavernous kick drums represent the fleeting moods of these artists who may or may not produce material under these aliases again

''Figure Skater' started as a bit of an experiment,' explains Charles. 'I was trying to match the acoustic guitar sounds from Dolly Parton's 'Jolene' at half speed (if you haven't heard it.it's on YouTube). Dolly's voice is down an octave.it's magical. I found myself just dropping in on it every now and again. When it actually came to writing a song it turned into something totally different but that was where the thing started. When we got to the studio the idea was to try and simplify the demo and make it as sparse as possible. We anchored the whole thing around drums, bass and Wurlitzer which ended up being the starting point for a lot of the record. I was lucky enough to have Rosa Slade, Rozi Plain, Katy Beth Young, Naomi Hammerton and Susie Merry down to sing with me. The lyrics have a kind of darkness to them and I wanted it to sound like one huge strange voice. We all had frozen margaritas and vibed the hell out'.
