Celebrated musician, bandleader and television host Jools Holland has amassed an almighty line-up of musicians, each a master of their individual instrument, for his 2021 album Pianola. Piano & Friends. A loving tribute to the black and white keys that have become synonymous with Holland and his show-stopping stylings. A stylistically dynamic vocalist, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, Lola Young builds on the traditions of Amy Winehouse and Adele with her smoky vocals and fearless songwriting. The South East London native made an impression soon after 2019's debut EP Intro, earning a nomination for the 2021 Rising Star BRIT Award. Her first full-length, 2023's confessional My Mind Wanders and Sometimes Leaves Completely, laid the groundwork for Young's brash 2024's album This Wasn't Meant for You Anyway, home of the multi-platinum, viral single "Messy." With 2025's I'm Only F**king Myself, she listeners more of her unguarded lyrics and genre-melding sounds.

While growing up in Beckenham, south London, Young learned piano and guitar early on and  started writing songs at the age of 11. Within only a couple years of dedicating herself to developing her talent, she won an open-mike competition. She attended the BRIT School -- coincidentally the same creative arts school previously attended by Amy Winehouse and Adele -- and won the Open Mic UK singing contest while studying there. Shortly after graduation and still a teenager, she signed a deal with major-label Island. Young's first commercial release was Intro, an assured EP made with producers such as LEX1K and Al Shux, Two Inch Punch, and Manuka. Intro appeared in November 2019, and was followed a few months later by Renaissance, consisting of three additional Manuka collaborations. A four-song EP made with Manuka and Paul Epworth, a couple additional singles, and a version of Philip Oakey and Giorgio Moroder's 1985 hit "Together in Electric Dreams" -- heard in an advertisement for department store John Lewis & Partners -- raised Young's profile significantly in 2021. Before the end of that year, she was shortlisted for the 2021 BRITs Rising Star category.

Young continued in 2022 with "So Sorry" and "Stream of Consciousness," singles that strengthened her connections to Manuka and Epworth. In early 2023, she issued her debut album, My Mind Wanders and Sometimes Leaves Completely. The release saw her bringing in producers Cass Lowe and Jim-E-Stack, to expand on the work she had previously released. This Wasn't Meant for You Anyway, a more candid and sometimes vitriolic second album, appeared in June 2024. Once again featuring production work by Manuka, it reached number 16 in the U.K. and was led by "Messy," what Young defined as "an ADHD anthem." The song went viral, staying at the top of the chart for four weeks in the U.K. and achieving multi-platinum status there, in the U.S., and four other countries. The non-album singles "Flicker of Light" and "Charlie" (featuring Lil Yachty) were out before the end of 2024. She also appeared on Tyler, The Creator's "Like Him" from the album Chromakopia.

Early in 2025, Young covered the Cure's "Close to Me" for the Australian radio station Triple J before performing at festivals including Coachella and Glastonbury and opening for Billie Eilish's concerts in Paris. During these shows, she premiered some of the songs that appeared on September 2025's I'm Only F**king Myself. Young's third album explored sex, addiction, and trauma with her trademark candor and with sounds ranging from Afrobeat to indie and folk. ~ Heather Phares & Andy Kellman

The Leeds-based art-rock trio, Mush release their feverish second album, which finds the group recruiting Lee Smith (The Cribs, Pulled Apart By Horses) on mixing duties. 'Lines Redacted' is a sound that blurs the lines of abstract surrealism, existentialism and social commentary; utilising guitars as tools in 2020 to stave off malaise whilst simultaneously commenting on the nation's ability to fall into such dire straits. It's a sensory overload of wiry tones that zig-zag between punk, prog and sardonic-funk with a relentless ability to reflect society's faults and apathy in a unique and acerbic manner.

Squirrel Flower's heart-rending sophomore album Planet (i), following her 2020 debut I Was Born Swimming, is exactly that. A singular planet, a world entirely of artist Ella Williams' making. The title came first to her as a joke: it's her made-up name for the new planet people will inevitably settle and destroy after leaving Earth, as well as the universe imagined within her music. "Planet (i) is my body and mind," Williams says, "and it's the physical and emotional world of our planet. It's both." Buoyed by her steadfast vision and propelled by her burning comet of a voice, the record is a love letter to disaster in every form imaginable. Tornadoes, flooding, gaslighting assholes, cars on fire-these songs fully embrace a planet in ruin. As Williams rides from melancholy to jubilance to complete emotional devastation over the course of twelve songs, she carves out a future for herself and those she loves. Planet (i), out June 25, 2021 on Polyvinyl and Full Time Hobby, is at once a refuge, an act of self-healing, and a musical reflection of Squirrel Flower's inner and outer worlds.Williams wrote most of the songs on Planet (i) before the COVID-19 pandemic, but disaster looms large in its DNA. Susceptible to head injuries having played a lot of sports in her youth, Williams received three concussions from 2019-2020; two at cafe jobs in her home state of Massachusetts, and a third, funnily enough, while making out with someone in a sloped attic at a house show. Amidst the chaos of touring internationally during her own healing process, she began weaving threads between her physical and personal sense of ruin and her lifelong fear of the elements: of being swept up by storms, floods, and the deep ocean. "To overcome my fear of disasters," Williams says, "I had to embody them, to stare them down." This journey of decay and healing is the lifeblood of Planet (i). "I'm not scared of the storm," she insists on "Desert Wildflowers." "I'll be lying on the roof when the tornado turns.

RKDIA are releasing their debut album: ‘Into RKDIA’. The album was written in Zanzibar, where the duo escaped the Nordic winter for some warm inspiration.

The duo consisting of Danish Morten Schantz (synth + vocals) and Swedish-Norwegian Anton Eger (drums) are well-known names on the jazz and fusion scenes of Europe. For a while now, both have been pushing the envelope, applying jazz logic in all sorts of unconventional shapes and places, seeking out the new and unheard.

With the release of the self-titled single ‘RKDIA’ earlier this year the duo gave a taste test of the blazingly frenetic, techno- chromatic, jolting and stirring world of RKDIA. A world you would have wished you had heard about a lot earlier. With their tribute single to the notorious Roger Federer: ‘Federer Happier’ they deliver a *hands in the air* tune leaving one breathless but comforted all at once. Not to mention the third single ‘Iris’ which represents the most pop sound from RKDIA on the album. It's a song that showcases Morten and Anton’s love of a good pop melody. With Anton’s unpredictable and truly inspiring, almost melodic drums and glitchy percussion, it lets ‘Iris’ arise into the unsudden, accompanied by Morten’s, foremost, bleepy arpeggiated chords supplemented by his vocals with a twist of the vocoder. Honorable mentions amongst the numerous original tracks within the album are firstly ‘Lucid Dreamer’. An unconstrained, four minute instrumental that feels like an extended snap- shot of a single moment in time, the melodies un- packing and re-packing themselves over and over. Secondly is yet another pumping, uplifting, and driving track ‘Shelter’ which is infiltrated by a jazzy trum- pet solo that furthermore accompanies the synth chord progression.

Take yourself on a journey ‘Into’ and ‘Out Of’ the world of RKDIA, through an album filled to the rim with originals.
