On 'Last Room', the third album from the Connecticut-based waveform*, there's a purposeful hollowness. It's a record you can fall into, a collection of music that's unafraid to venture into emotion, exploring the gaping distance that develops in some relationships, the constant confusion that accompanies self-discovery, and the darkness that accompanies abandonment.

Off the Grid is a journey that joins the origin story of dance rhythms from Africa to electronic dance music of today's clubs and festivals, connecting African folklore and storytelling to rap, jazz and hip hop. From Kinshasa to Kebdrick, Accra Market cassette tapes to London pirate radio stations, Malian blues to UK jazz. This is not a new fusion but a celebration of the family tree of music that has roots in the diaspora. Although it's not a sound many people will have heard, it's a sound that connects us all with our history, joining the dots of popular music and the importance of preserving the lessons of our ancestors. The twin creative forces behind Onipa — Tom Excell (Nubiyan Twist) and Kweku Sackey (K.O.G. & the Zongo Brigade) — together with Finn Booth on drums and Dwayne Kilvington (a.k.a. Wonky Logic) on synths, have built a life-affirming and highly original world of sound.

2 : SAMO (Werkha Remix)
3 : Constant Curve (Feat. Ellen Beth Abdi) [Emperor Machine Extended Rework]
4 : Waiting On a Train (Feat. Ellen Beth Abdi & Chunky) [Jade Parker Remix]
This follows the release of their album 1982, and includes 3 remixes of tracks from the record and a brand new track ‘Day by Day’. The remixers on the EP are fellow mancunians Werkha and Jade Parker, as well as close friend Andy Meecham aka Emperor Machine, who originally contributed keyboards and electronic percussion to the very track he’s reworked, ‘Constant Curve.’ The EP also includes a remix of the popular single ‘SAMO’, which spent 4 weeks on the BBC 6Music playlist, accompanied by an animated lyric video paying homage to the graffiti tag it was named after by Al Diaz and American artist and wunderkind, Jean-Michel Basquiat. The final track on the EP is a remix of ‘Waiting on a Train’, presenting a new and special version of the original song, with the presence of the featuring artists, Ellen Beth Abdi and Chunky, remaining strong.

Childe is a refreshingly chaotic talent. You’ve likely never met anyone like him, and you probably never will. He is the living embodiment of a modern storyteller, an artist built on impurities inspired by the edges of life. For some artists an alter ego is something to hide behind - for Childe, it is a place to be free. Growing up with ADHD presented difficulties for the artist - constantly battling an overactive mind he was unable to turn off. Childe is the voice of discomfort, but his empathetic tones ensure that listeners are welcomed, acting as an open invitation to the mind of the artist. His live shows are a cathartic and therapeutic experience. Those who have already seen him live will understand how big, raw, and emotive his voice is. Childe touches upon topics that are very rarely captured by a male singer-songwriter. ‘Stoned & Supremely Confident’ was written between London and LA with Danny Presant. The album looks at segments of Childe's experiences in life, writing about horror film versions of life moments, over-medicating, loving so hard you would die, a mushroom trip, the baby boomers and one very literal depiction of him trying to be a better friend.
