Declared by Forbes in 2000 to be the world’s most successful designer,
Italian-born Giorgio Armani is among the world’s fashion aristocrats.
Clothing and fragrance were not always a part of Armani’s life plans.
Working toward a future in medicine during his youth, Armani had a
change of heart after serving in an infirmary unit during a stint in
the army in 1953 at the age of 19. Following his military service,
Armani found work as a window dresser at a department store in Milan,
and within a few years, he went on to become a seller for their men’s
wear department.
Armani’s career in the world of fashion continued to rise over the
years. By the mid-1960s, Armani had established himself as a designer
for the house of Nino Cerutti as well as an independent for several
other houses, but it was not until 1975 that he presented his first
collections, a men’s followed by a women’s collection, all in the same
year. The Giorgio Armani brand expanded throughout the late 1970s and
early 1980s with underwear, swimwear, and accessories as well as the
Emporio line, which had a lower price point. With his inspiration
coming from regular people he encounters daily, Armani has been able to
keep his look fresh and relevant, thus maintaining a following among
the celebrity class.
In the early ’80s, Armani entered the fragrance industry with the
introduction of the first Armani perfume, Armani for Women. His perfume
release was followed by an Armani cologne named simply Armani for Men.
While these two were the introductory fragrances for Giorgio Armani,
they would not be the last. His success would lead to numerous scents
and a Giorgio Armani perfume line consisting of more than 100
fragrances.

citrus and flora this perfume appeals more to the younger set. Happy
for Men with its crisp citrus and musky undertones was introduced a
year later in 1999. Other popular Clinque perfumes include the sheer
smelling Simply and the romantic Happy Heart.
