Words Made Flesh draws together a number of Elaine Graham's shorter writings and essays and thereby maps out the work of a pioneer theological thinker and the development of pastoral and practical theology in the last twenty years. Elaine Graham considers the theological significance of topics as diverse as nativity plays, science fiction, gender, consumerism, cyberspace and urban regeneration. They all share a concern with the way the sources and norms of the Christian tradition can enter into a creative and critical conversation with contemporary experience in order to generate the 'practical wisdom' by which the life of the Church can be directed. They reflect the author's fundamental conviction that theology as 'talk about God-in-the-world' is always practical and public - and that it begins and ends in the complexities of the human condition: where words become flesh. About the Author Professor Elaine Graham is Grosvenor Research Professor of Practical Theolog at the University of Chester and was Samuel Fergusson Professor of Social and Pastoral Theology at the University of Manchester and Executive Director of the Manchester Research Institute for Religion and Civil Society. She was President of the International Academy of Practical Theology between 2005 and 2007.
"Many people in our society are in need of healing. They have been hard pressed, perplexed, and persecuted without processing the pain. Minister LaShawn Myers calls readers to a place of true brokenness before the Lord so that He can restore the ancient ruins of abuse, abandonment, addictions, unresolved life trauma, relationship issues, grief and loss as they become more authentic in their relationships with God and others."
A Father's Words examines the profound impact fathers' words have on their children. The words and actions of fathers shape their children's lives in many crucial areas. The things fathers say can make or break their children. Christian counselor Stephen Rossi presents specific strategies, examples, and solutions for repairing, restoring, and healing broken father-child relationships created by degrading words from fathers. Rossi's insightful, practical, and compelling book focuses on helping fathers understand, reverse, and prevent the devastating effects of their demeaning words on their children. Rossi inspires and encourages fathers to make the necessary changes that will bless their children. He knows very well as a Christian counselor that this can only really be done with Christ. Rossi relies on and involves Christ in the explanation and healing process throughout his book. A Father's Words is based on Rossi's work with fathers and their children throughout his career.

A soldier understands the danger of failing to detect and disarm, or detonate a land/sea mine. This danger is even more devastating in spiritual warfare. Many Christians are very ignorant of the devices of the enemy of which we are warned to beware. Some Christians have lost spiritual legs, other spiritual body parts or have even died because of this ignorance. In this book, the author exposes Christians to this reality by examining topics such as: Satanic Mine Planters, Spiritual Mine Detectors, and Spiritual Mine Disarming and Detonation.

Carole Fontaine, well known among biblical scholars for her feminist studies in the biblical wisdom traditions and the ancient Near East, is also a human rights and interfaith activist working on issues of violence against Muslim women in the Middle East and Southern Asia and a board member of many agencies such as the International Network for the Rights of Female Victims of Violence in Pakistan, and the Women's Forum against Fundamentalism in Iran. In this collection of her essays, mostly previously unpublished, she brings together these two concerns, distilling from the scriptures of Judaism, Christianity and Islam valuable insights into current questions of human rights. Unlike many writers, Fontaine recognizes the critical role of gender in the fundamental concept of the 'Other', so determinative for our view of humanity. In our days, Fontaine argues, human rights issues have taken on a new dimension in political discourse about war, peace and terror, where often an appeal is made to religious and scriptural justifications for the violation or preservation of rights. Fontaine urges attention to the priority of the sufferer in adjudicating meaning, and turns to the 'little texts' of daily ethics rather than grand theological abstractions in order to place 'scriptures' in meaningful conversation with the concrete realities of our world.
