In the early, hazy month of September 1984, Grice Grafton will
begin a brand new odyssey at Northside High School. After learning
to play pool as a youngster from his mentor Mr. Evans, Grice
thought he knew everything he needed to know to survive in the
world. 'Life is pool' according to his mentor and Grice believed
him. At Northside, Grice would learn much more than he could ever
imagine when he allows his loyalty to his one true childhood friend
pull the mild mannered Grice into a pool match with a ruthless thug
named Dragon, who will stop at nothing to win. The days leading up
to the match will test Grice's views on race relations; his
perception of his longtime friend, Brenda; his relationship with
his father; his faith; and even his dreams. Grice's first few days
of high school will shatter his world...forever.
It's sports day at Raj's school, and he and his classmates should
be thrilled. But it's raining, so all the games and races have been
moved inside to the gym. It's not the awesome outdoor sports day
the kids had in mind - until they find a way to turn soggy into
sunny!
Nita and Sohail are thrilled when they win scholarships to attend
the Alaska Young Explorers program. Both kids could use the prize
money to help their families and set out to compete as hard as they
can. But things take a turn when they're paired up on an
expedition. The two make a misstep while hiking down a glacier and
find themselves in dangerous territory. Nita and Sohail will have
to depend on each other and learn to work together ... if they want
to survive the Alaskan wilderness.

After solving the case of Truly Devious, Stevie Bell investigates
her first mystery outside of Ellingham Academy in this
spine-chilling and hilarious stand-alone mystery from New York
Times bestselling author Maureen Johnson, now available in
paperback. Amateur sleuth Stevie Bell needs a good murder. After
catching a killer at her high school, she's back at home for a
normal (that means boring) summer. But then she gets a message from
the owner of Sunny Pines, formerly known as Camp Wonder Falls-the
site of the notorious unsolved case, the Box in the Woods Murders.
Back in 1978, four camp counselors were killed in the woods outside
of the town of Barlow Corners, their bodies left in a gruesome
display. The new owner offers Stevie an invitation: Come to the
camp and help him work on a true crime podcast about the case.
Stevie agrees, as long as she can bring along her friends from
Ellingham Academy. Nothing sounds better than a summer spent
together, investigating old murders. But something evil still lurks
in Barlow Corners. When Stevie opens the lid on this long-dormant
case, she gets much more than she bargained for. The Box in the
Woods will make room for more victims. This time, Stevie may not
make it out alive. * Cosmopolitan Best YA Books of 2021 * People

and get him out of there--and keep supporting her family. But would
she be able to live with herself?
