This volume contains the monthly issues of The Theosophist magazine
March 1950-November 1950, although we are missing the issues for
May and September. It is a magazine of brotherhood, Oriental
philosophy, art, literature and occultism. Each issue features
articles entitled "Reviews" and "On The Watchtower." Sample
contents: United Nations and World Opinions by Vernon Duckworth
Barker; Muhammed, Prophet of Arabia by Ayesha Mohammed; Higher
Education for One World by Ordway Tead; Outline and Principles of
Indian Art by P. Sama Rao; A Mystic's View by E. Coe; and much
more.
Found in this book are two smaller works. Theosophy and Life's
Deeper Problems contains the four Convention lectures delivered in
Bombay at the 40th anniversary of the Theosophical Society. These
lectures are titled: God; man; right and wrong; and brotherhood. In
Theosophical Society: The First Fifty Years, the reader will find
seven essays by various members of the Theosophical Society
entitled: first leaf of theosophical history; charter of the
Theosophical Society; our three objects; first quarter century;
wider outlook; Theosophical movement and the masters of wisdom;
inner purpose of the Theosophical Society.
1939. Dr. Besant's, Founder/President of the Theosophical Society,
translation of the Bhagavad Gita is esteemed for its beauty of
language, its clarity of expression, and its close adherence to the
