Margaret Alice Murray's acclaimed history of European witchcraft is
accompanied by descriptions of the rituals performed and
concoctions made by witches centuries ago. The author's burgeoning
knowledge is a service to the subject; what might otherwise be
overly dry or arcane is revealed in a manner both exciting and
thought-provoking. We are offered historical observations of the
witchcraft tradition, with the life and times of the women accused
of its practice examined in the context of the era. Readers will be
left in no doubt about the traditions, ceremonies and magical rites
practiced by witches. Although Murray was later found to be
overstating the influence and magnitude of the witchcraft tradition
- she considered it to be a popular successor to paganism - she
explains its origins, growth and persecution of witches with astute
narration. Murray posits that witches were thought to be worshiping
the devil; a grave crime in the fervently Christian Europe of yore.
This thorough writing enables the curious seeker to pin down a
truly progressive path in perhaps one of the oldest forms of
spiritual and magical awareness. To initiates and those in the
know, 'the old religion' gives a name to this path. More commonly,
the old religion is called Wicca. In this book, you'll find the
means to realise your position as a natural born magician. This
book encourages the reader to become aware of the symbolic meanings
associated with witches tools like the pentacle. Once the reader
understands what the pentacle represents, they can enter into the
world of creating energetic influences, or magic. This book gives a
solid, straightforward grounding into what the Old Gods mean,
working with the elemental forces, casting magical circles,
practising Sabbat ceremonies and much more. The author, Nigel Cox,
is a practising witch who brings his knowledge of witchcraft and
the old religion into an easy to read and straightforward way,
encouraging those interested in this pagan path to move confidently
into it, and if the reader chooses, initiate as a witch and develop
a meaningful relationship with the old gods, witchcraft and the old
religion.

square pan (glass or ceramic). Light yellow candles and place the
pan on your working area. Close your eyes, extend the index finger
of your weak hand, and gently touch the center of the pan with its
tip. Move it at random in the pan, shifting from one direction to
another ... Now, remove your finger, open your eyes, and interpret
the symbols you have just written in the herb."

The spells within this book had never been seen by anyone except
Marie Laveau herself for the longest time...until last year they
were uncovered. It took almost a year, but finally everything was
deciphered and translated from French and in some cases Latin. The
first page in the book in which these spells were found had been
dated 1895 and it had been signed by the Voodoo Queen herself,
Marie Laveau (Clapion). These are authentic spells from one of the
many grimoires the Voodoo Queen of New Orleans kept.
