South Africa has one of the highest rising rates of addicts in the world with the majority between the ages of 22 and 35 years old, 37% are unemployed (SANCA 2011). Once an addict decides to ask for help, it is very difficult to obtain coherent advice about how to proceed with their recovery - this book aims to do this. To date there are no local books which help recovering addicts and there families. Recovery RSA is the go-to guide for recovering addicts, families, significant others, professionals, para-professionals and support people. It provides background information on treatment options, as well as useful and practical guidelines to help people navigate their way through the recovery process in South Africa. Recovery RSA documents the South African experience within the field of addiction recovery. The collection was developed in an attempt to document our local South African knowledge, skill and practice in one resource, and to share this with others, in the hope that it will bring some understanding, strength and hope to those who are affected by addiction.
