At the time of the Roman Invasion of AD 43, Dorset was the
territory of Iron Age tribe called Durotriges. The extent to which,
Roman ideas, life and language were adopted was remarkable. This
work describes neighbouring towns, villas, local industries,
religious beliefs and practices of the Romanised inhabitants and
the network of new Roman roads.
