Literary transmission plays an important role in the discourse on
memory, which is not surprising as one of the functions of texts
has always been to figure as tokens of memorialization. From
different perspectives and with different approaches to the
subject, the articles in this volume look at various individual
examples in an attempt to cast light on the memorialization
procedures to be found in literature. This concrete quest for the
traces of literary memory demonstrates how intricate and difficult
it is to grasp and describe the manifold reciprocities between
memory, literature, and the relevant context.
