Paola Dante is a driven project manager employed by a large multinational information technology corporation who reads war strategy books for relaxation. In general she prefers computers to people with their random uncontrolled emotions. Long ago she made a decision that matters of the heart were inherently messy and should be kept at arm’s distance. But her husband had surprised her; she had no resistance against Daniel. Now she sees herself as a survivor who has successfully moved on from the traumatic events and terrible truth surrounding her husband’s sudden disappearance years before. But the truth is that ever since the night he walked out on their marriage back to his old ways she’s found it hard to get on with normal life.

An unlikely and ill-equipped mother, she stands alone between their adopted daughter Simone and the criminal kingpin who wants the teenage girl for his own ends and has set the savage wolves on her.

To save her daughter - and herself - once and for all, Paola will face her every fear, her every mistake, and the past she thought she’d finally processed and left behind.

A gripping second book in the Limbo Trilogy

Tue, 8 May 2018 | Review by: Fiona Z.

Wolf Trap, the second book in the Limbo Trilogy, continues the saga of star-crossed lovers Paola Dante and Daniel de Luc, and Paola’s adopted daughter Simone. Having rescued Simone from a porn empire before the auction of her virginity two years previously, Paola must be vigilant – the evil Sarrazins may strike at any time. When Simone’s friend Roxy is kidnapped, Paola and Simone must face their past and walk “into the mouth of the wolf”… If Lady Limbo was about love and destiny, Wolf Trap is more about responsibility – specifically parental responsibility. Overcoming victimhood is another strong theme in this literary suspense that morphs into a high-stakes thriller. Although the question of Daniel’s disappearance will likely only be resolved in the third book in the trilogy, Wolf Trap will satisfy readers who want to see Paola regain her mojo. The novel is a rollicking blend of crime fiction, romance and self-conscious postmodernism (spot the literary references throughout) – a unique combination that sets Roland apart in South African fiction.
