Examining social housing provision in the context of current and
historical practice, the contributors argue that the homeless,
particularly those with mental health problems, run the very real
risk of being socially excluded; and present arguments for how
policy should develop. They consider such issues as: What is the
role of government? How far should the state intervene? What can
the private sector contribute? How does the law affect the various
groups? How can we house the growing number of homeless people with
disabilities?
