Franklin K. Mathiews was an American author and editor, and Chief
Scout Librarian for the Boy Scouts of America. His works include:
Boy Scouts Courageous (1918), Coming Through! A Book of Sports for
Boys (1927), Chuckles and Grins (1928), Flying High (1930), Hitting
the Trail (1930), Skyward Ho! (1930), The Boy Scouts Book of
Outdoor Hobbies (1938), The Boy Scouts Book of Adventurous Youth
(1941) and The Boy Scouts Book of Hobbies for Fathers and Sons
(1942). He also edited The Boy Scouts Book of Stories (1920), The
Boy Scouts Book of Campfire Stories (1921), Stories Boys Like Best
(1945) and various volumes of the The Boy Scouts Year Book. "The
Boy Scouts Book of Campfire Stories makes available to scoutmasters
and other leaders a goodly number of stories worthy of their
attention, and when well told likely to arrest and hold the
