Originally published in 1938, this book explores six 'minor
phenomena' from eighteenth-century literature. Each figure is
briefly discussed in Tompkins' earlier book, The Popular Novel in
England, but here they are dealt with more fully. This book will be
of value to anyone with an interest in overlooked British authors.
