The first chapter in the book on introduction and importance is
specially dealt on the basis of available information on ber and
experience of working on this crop. It includes ber species, ber
growing in India, cultural significance of jujube in China,
diversity in ber varieties and importance and objectives of
mulching. A brief research review on mulching in ber, other fruit
crops and related crops is presented in second chapter under
vegetative growth characters, flowering and fruit setting, fruit
characters, chemical characters of fruit, leaf and soil nutrient
status, soil moisture distribution and weed growth. The third
chapter on research planing on mulching is self explanatory and
designed according to the need of ber growers. The detailed results
are presented in forth chapter under research achievement on
mulching and discussed in the light of available literature. The
outcome of research is summerized and concluded in fifth chapter.
The book will be highly useful for graduate and post graduate
students in Horticulture of Agricultural Universities and Colleges.
The book will serve a practical guide in planning of research on
mulching in various fruit crops.
