Flora of Tropical East Africa - Aponogetonac (1989) was prepared at
the Royal Botanic Gardens/Kew with the assistance from the East
African Herbarium. The aponogetonaceae family are rhizomatous
glabrous monoecious or rarely dioecious herbs with tubers, usually
growing submerged in fresh water or (after drying up) on wet soil.
