Karin Sander's "Patina Paintings "are created at--and by--the site
of their exhibition. Sander transports blank canvases to the
exhibition venue and leaves them outside, unprotected, to
accumulate the patina of their location as chance and the whims of
nature determine. The results are delicate abstractions resembling
the mark-making of John Cage or Cy Twombly. This handsome monograph
records the series.
