A brilliant and inspiring work, justifiably a bestseller in the
USA, which presents a no-nonsense guide to life, the Universe and
everything from an inner perspective. It's written by a practising
psychiatrist who doesn't shirk painful facts (life is painful;
problems won't just go away; choices are painful; our problems are
just that - ours) yet remains sympathetic to human frailty and the
everyday dilemmas of life. Peck is expressive, insightful and often
moving, unafraid either to reveal his own weaknessess or to
pinpoint those of others with startling clarity. Highly recommended
to everyone. (Kirkus UK)
Confronting and solving problems is a painful process which most of us attempt to avoid. And the very avoidance results in greater pain and an inability to grow both mentally and spiritually.
Drawing heavily on his own professional experience, leading psychiatrist Dr M. Scott Peck suggests ways in which facing our difficulties - and suffering through the changes - can enable us to reach a higher level of self-understanding. He discusses the nature of loving relationships: how to recognise true compatibility, how to distinguish dependency from love, how to become one's own person, and how to be a more sensitive parent. This is the bestselling self-help book that will change the way you live, and love, for good.

Easy to read and enlightening, it inspires new thought patterns and views about oneself, love and relationships. Personally I found it extremely helpful and to the point, and it was the first time someone talked in a way about God that made sense to me. His explanations are captivating and thought provoking for religious and non-religious people.
