Low sleep quality, sleep disturbances, and at least occasional
sleep dissatisfaction are prevalent among most college
undergraduates. Poor academic performance, depressed mood,
irritation during the day and daytime sleepiness is the
consequences of insufficient sleep. A survey was performed in
Banasthali pharmacy students by distributing a sleep related
questionnaire to students. The questionnaire included questions
about demographic characteristics, sleep and daytime habits,
lifestyle and academic progress and effect of course curriculum on
sleep quality. Statistical analysis was performed with the help of
the SPSS 16.0 software package. Relationship between sleep quality,
night time and daytime habits, sleep problems, age and BMI were
studied using the Spearman Rank Order Correlations.
