Chronicles of Jongleur, The Storyteller is historical fiction set in 13th century Britain and Europe. It is an epic of four generations of one family who struggle to survive the dangers and persecution of the Roman church. The Cathar's, one of the sects who would become known as Protestants, were almost exterminated between 1200-1300. They were made to undergo conversion, deny their religion or be burned at the stake. This fictional family are descended from Mary Magdalene, who likely had their same beliefs, and whose legend abounds in France. The Christian Bible, as well as the Dead Sea Scrolls, and other aprocrypha tell us this historic woman had many gifts and abiliities. Would they have been passed down? How would her descendants have lived? With a rich historically accurate background of the high middle ages, Jongleur is born into a life of danger. This story follows his mother and great-grandmother in their lives, a time when women did not fare well in history. Their influence leads him to do whatever he can for their persecuted people. Jongleur tells a compelling story about his efforts and dangers in his own words. You won't forget those words or the engaging characters in this novel. Meet Grandmere, the matriarch who heals with her potions. Meet Emmalena, Jongleur's mother who heals with gifts. Meet Templar knights, kings, Emperors, and the Doge of Venice as Jongleur crosses Europe to help the Cathar's in Provence and the Languedoc. Fact and legend tells usMary Magdalene was there, and left and a following of 2000 years. This author has chosen to tel a story of that tme in this way. There are many unknown truths that exist-perhaps this is one of them. As this family matriarch, Grandmere, say, "history is not just what happened-it's only what they wrote down."
