Buddy Sandifer is the natty owner of a used-car lot in the 1930s
American Midwest. He is the father of Ralph, a sex-obsessed 15-year
old, and the husband of Naomi, a seemingly boring housewife.
Laverne is his mistress, a former prostitute who insists on Buddy's
promise to divorce his wife. Buddy has a more drastic plan for
Naomi - he plans on hiring someone to kill her. The Midwestern
setting of SNEAKY PEOPLE provides a steady stream of quirky
characters and a dry, dusty sense of place to emphasize their
languid humanity and contrast the deep passions that drive their
actions. As Buddy handles the planning of his wife's murder, Naomi
hides a literary secret, and Ralph explores new sexual territory,
the hidden truths of their lives will come to the surface with
surprising consequences.
