The book highlights that policy initiative grounded in the history of Chinese behavior are more likely to be successful thanthose that stem from overstatements and misconceptions.
Based on extensive fieldwork and interviews with over one hundred Chinese and US government officials, this work casts new light on both the nature of Chinese military power and the regimes that have attempted to constrain it.
