Many interesting and perplexing questions arise in connection with
the highly potassic volcanic associa- tion dominated by mafic and
ultramafic rocks contain- ing leucite. Its occurrence is very
restricted as compar- ed with the olivine-basalt trachyte kindred,
but it is distributed at widely scattered points on all the conti-
nents, and its chemical and petrographic individuality is both
remarkable and constant. A considerable litera- ture is available
related to the mineralogy, petrology, geochemistry, phase
chemistry, distribution, and origin of this interesting suite of
rocks. It seemed that there was a genuine need for a
review-synthesis of all these data, which would be intelligible to
a wide spectrum of advanced students and professionals in the earth
sciences. The monograph may be divided into two parts. The first
part consists of six chapters in which the mineralogical and
chemical peculiarities of leucite- bearing rocks and their
nomenclature, petrology, min- eralogy, distribution, and physical
and chemical condi- tions of formation are discussed. Phase
equilibria stud- ies on many leucite-bearing ternary,
pseudoternary, quaternary, and pseudoquaternary joins and systems,
studied by different investigators at variable tempera- tures in
air, are described in the second part in Chap- ters 7 to 12.
Survival of leucite and formation of pseu- doleucite is discussed
in Chapter 13. Leucite-bearing synthetic and natural rock systems
studied at different temperatures under variable pressures in
presence or absence of water, are summarized in Chapters 14 and 15.

papers presented in this volume discuss many varied aspects of this
all-encompassing topic. In particular, topics covered include
generalized statistical analysis, elliptically contoured
distribution, covariance structure analysis, metric scaling,
detection of outliers, density approximation, and circulant and
band random matrices.
The multinational corporate guide for thriving in the Asian
marketplace
Led by China and India, the rise of emerging Asia is
transforming the structure of the global economy. By 2025, if not
sooner, China will almost certainly overtake the U.S. to become the
world's largest economy. By then, India is likely to have overtaken
Japan to become the world's third largest economy, after China and
the U.S. Besides China and India, Asia also includes other
fast-growing economies such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines,
Thailand, and Vietnam. Added together, by 2025, these developments
are likely to make Asia's economy larger than those of the U.S. and
Europe combined.
It is clear that, for every large company, leadership in Asia is
rapidly becoming critical for leadership globally. This important

book offers executives and managers a guide for navigating the new
global reality--that of Asia as the world's emerging center of
gravity.
Carbohydrate reserves constitute the major part of edible portion
of the plants. Latest researches in major crops like wheat, rice,
maize, barley, potato, sugarcane, sugarbeet, Jerusalem artichoke,
chicory and carbohydrates in trees have been included in this book.
The book will be of great value to the basic plant biochemists,
molecular biologists, biotechnologists, and genetic crop engineers
and to the agricultural scientists working in different disciplines
related to crop productivity. This compilation may act as a medium
to initiate discussions among these scientists leading to new
researches in the area of crop productivity and reserve
carbohydrate metabolism.
In India, soybean (Glycine max) has established one of the major
oilseed crops besides being pulse crop. In the North East India, it
is grown on slopes, jhum lands, terraces and plains. In spite of
high yield potential, it productivity is much less than the world
average. Cultivation of soybean on marginal land combined with sub
optimal nutrients supply is the major hurdle in realising potential
productivity. Sulphur is required for the synthesis of
sulphur-containing amino-acids cystine, cystein and methionine
which are essential components of protein. Soybean is very
sensitive to boron deficiency as well. It requires an adequate
supply of boron, especially during flowering and seed development.
Its deficiency may cause restriction of water absorption,
carbohydrate metabolism and even sterility. Recently the importance
of boron has also been recognized in the development of embryo and
synthesis of protein. Boron deficiency is known to inhibit economic
yield. Soybean cultivation on acidic soils of northeast India is on
rise but both of these vital nutrients are widely deficient in the
region due to extreme acidity, excessive rainfall and very low use
of mineral fertilizers.
The most challenging research areas of 21st century are maintaining
the good environment, providing quality food and getting rescued
from the environmental hazards increasing due to fast establishment
of industries which in turn are also required to meet the demand of
gradually expanding population throughout the world. This volume,
'Plant Disease Management for Food Security' embodies forty two
research papers of scientists contributed throughout the country.
The information on distribution, biology, epidemiology, and control
of each pathogens and disease has been updated. The details of key
potential diseases and their integrated diseases management (IDM)
along with photographs will help the reader to identify diseases,
the damage caused by them, and their natural enemies. IDM is also
environment-friendly and safer for farmers and farm workers. The
book is intended to serve as a text for advanced undergraduate and
post graduate students of plant pathology and related discipline
and as a reference source for teacher, researchers, students,
technologists, extension workers, disease scouts, agribusiness
personnel, and others interested in integrated diseases management.
Plant diseases are major limiting factors in reducing agricultural
production and creating hunger in ever increasing human population.
Modern farming and agricultural practices heavily depend on the use
of pesticides for plant disease and pest control that raise
environmental and food safety concerns. This book attempts to
provide concise, critical, synthetic, and up-to-date coverage of
different aspects of plant disease management. The chapter on
control of plant diseases has been recognized and expanded to
include recent developments on all aspects of integrated disease
management and of new chemicals, biological agents and manipulating
the plant genome to develop resistant cultivar for controlling
plants diseases. The information on distribution, biology,
epidemiology, and control of each pathogens and disease has been
updated. The book is intended to serve as a text for advanced
undergraduate and post graduate students of plant pathology and
related discipline and as a reference source for teacher,
researchers, students, technologists, extension workers, disease
scouts, agribusiness personnel, home gardeners and others
