Between 1886 and 1942, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Pomology Division — pomology being the study of fruit growing — commissioned an illustrated register of fruits. These watercolour illustrations were invaluable to growers, who used them as records of prized varieties that were in danger of being stolen or counterfeited by competitors. The illustrations realistically portrayed fruit in all conditions, showing not only immaculate pomegranates fit to eat off of the page but bruised bananas as well. These watercolours, most of which were painted by women, chronicle an agricultural landscape at the turn of the twentieth century and provide a visual time capsule of many fruit varieties now lost. This book highlights 250 vibrant, mouthwatering watercolours from the Pomological Watercolor Collection, showing fruit from all 50 states and around the world, from apples and oranges to gooseberries and plums. As small as an apple or avocado you would hold in your hand, this miniature book will entice both gourmets and art lovers.

The perfect stationery for the cook, gardener, or gourmand in your life.

This scrumptious notecard set comes housed in a presentation-quality box.
This tiny yet majestic volume introduces us to some 250 queens who ruled in their own right - who were crowned as the sovereigns of their countries or, in some cases, decided to crown themselves. It begins with queens of the ancient world and ends with those ruling today, encompassing along the way both household names, like Elizabeth I and Catherine the Great, and those who deserve to be better known, like Margaret I of Denmark and Ranavalona I of Madagascar. Each queen is represented by her portrait - painted, carved, engraved, or photographed - and an interesting fact about her reign. This Tiny Folio will be the perfect gift for the powerful women in your life.
From the 1950s through today, here is the "complete" visual history
of the rock concert poster: the funkiest bills advertising Elvis,
B.B. King, and Howlin' Wolf; the multicolored psychedelic
hallucinations promoting the Grateful Dead, Dylan, and the Doors;
the deliciously tasteless art for the Sex Pistols, Crime, and the
Clash. From the Red Dog Saloon in San Francisco, where the
psychedelic scene started, to CBGB, New York's punk Mecca, and
beyond. 1,500 images searched out world-wide from clubs, attics,
and bedrooms--as well as more formal collections--are reproduced in
their original blazing colors.
The Detailed Notes are luxury notecards that feature a striking close-up of a great artwork on the front, and the entire artwork on the back. Each set is housed in a presentation-quality box. This set, The Trees of North America, reproduces details of four exquisite hand-coloured plates from François-André Michaux's classic North American Sylva, by such masters of botanical art as Pierre-Joseph Redouté and Pancrace Bessa.
