The femme fatale as a nineteenth-century motif has been well-researched and a whole body of critical literature attests to her haunting fascination for literary critics. This study interrogates literary definitions of the femme fatale and challenges the notion that the femme fatale is a post-Romantic, late nineteenth-century type. Whilst arguing for a more precise discrimination, it considers the earlier emergence of the motif in English Romanticism and focuses on a period where femmes fatales do not appear with marked frequency, but where cultural history emphasises their quality. Tracing such contemporary contextualisations, this study argues for the existence of a multiplicity of different types of fatal women even in Romanticism and for their continuous line of development through to the pervasive motif of the femme fatale in decadent writing.

Nicht nur in den USA, wo diese Moglichkeit der Finanzierung fur junge und innovative Unternehmen seit Jahrzehnten zum Alltag gehort, sondern auch in Europa, gewinnt dieser Markt immer mehr Bedeutung, wobei immer grossere Teile des Finanzierungsvolumens in fruhe Finanzierungsphasen fliessen. Wahrend in den USA bereits seit vielen Jahren Industrieunternehmen Gelder in Form von Corporate Venture Capital (CVC) in den Private-Equity-Markt investieren, versuchen seit etwa einem Jahrzehnt auch immer mehr deutsche Unternehmen diese Moglichkeit der Beteiligung an jungen, innovativen Unternehmen aus den verschiedensten Grunden zu nutzen. Da das finanzielle Engagement von Industrieunternehmen in den vergangenen Jahren stetig zugenommen hat, stellt sich die Frage, welche Motive diese Firmen dazu bewegen, CVC-Investments zu tatigen und welche organisatorischen Moglichkeiten ihnen hierfur zur Verfugung stehen. Worin liegen die Vorteile einer solchen Finanzierung fur den Investor und den Unternehmer und welche Probleme konnen daraus resultieren? Anschliessend werden diese theoretischen Erklarungen anhand empirischer Untersuchungen uberpruft. Gang der Untersuchung: Nachdem zunachst die Grundlagen des Private Equity dargestellt werden, erfolgt eine theoretische Erlauterung zum Thema CVC. CVC bietet dabei sowohl den Investoren als auch den jungen Unternehmen eine Moglichkeit, gemeinsam die eigenen Schwachen zu uberwinden. Daher verfolgen beide Gruppen hauptsachlich strategische, aber auch finanzielle Ziele. Die auf beiden Seiten auftretenden Probleme konnen aber zu erheblichen Ineffizienzen fuhren.
