Pablo Picasso's artistic output is astonishing in its ambition and
variety. This handsome publication examines a particular aspect of
his legendary capacity for invention: his imaginative and original
use of paper. He used it as a support for autonomous works,
including etchings, prints and drawings, as well as for his
papier-colle experiments of the 1910s and his revolutionary
three-dimensional 'constructions', made of cardboard, paper and
string. Sometimes, his use of paper was simply determined by
circumstance: in occupied Paris, where art supplies were hard to
come by, he ripped up paper tablecloths to make works of art. And,
of course, his works on paper comprise the preparatory stages of
some of his very greatest paintings, among them Les Demoiselles
d'Avignon (1907) and Guernica (1937). With reproductions of more
than 300 works of art and additional texts by Violette Andres,
Stephen Coppel, Emmanuelle Hincelin, Christopher Lloyd, Johan
Popelard and Claustre Rafart Planas, this sumptuous study reveals
the myriad ways in which Picasso's genius seized the potential of
paper at different stages throughout his career.

Bill Robinson helps Christian leaders understand how to provide
effective leadership by highlighting five qualities that
characterized the leadership style of Jesus. He presents convincing
arguments that when leaders emulate these qualities, they will
inspire and empower the people they have been called to lead.
Reflection and discussion questions and assessment questions make
this ideal for group use. Conversational in tone and seasoned with
real-life stories from his own successes and failures as a leader,
Robinson helps Christian leaders wrestle with four questions that
emerge from John's introduction of Jesus, "and the word became
flesh and dwelt among us...." * Jesus dwelt with those he led, how
can I be closer to those I lead? * Jesus disciples beheld him, how
can I be more transparent with those I lead? * The glory of Jesus
was a reflection of his father, am I seeking my own glory? * Jesus
led with grace and truth, how can I lead with grace and truth? The
Incarnate Leader is indispensable reading for anyone in a position
of leadership - whether in a church setting, corporation, school
board, or home. The book is packaged as a short one-evening read,
similar to other popular business books.
This is a delightful collection of sailing stories which Bill
Robinson has culled for a lifetime of writing about boats and the
sea. Starting with his observations on the rewards and challenges
of sailing, he takes us from the early days under sail through many
wonderful cruising and racing adventures; he describes the boats in
his life and along the way we also learn quite a bit about yachting
history. Favorite cruising areas the world over are described and
some very special cruising memories are shared with the reader.
BIll Robinson's first novel-a saga of personal trauma and nautical
peril-is based on actual events during the great Tokyo earthquake
of 1923, when a passenger liner with 3,000 people aboard faced
imminent destruction from the raging elements and was saved by the
captain's courage and skills.
A man and a cat... Whales... global warming This is a short story
about a cat who truly did save the world with a little help. In the
history of the Earth, there has never been anything quite like
this. People who have cats all know that cats are smart creatures,
but saving the world? Read this great story with photographic art
about how a man and a cat and all the water creatures of the world
worked together to save the world from global warming. After you
read this story, you may look at your cat a bit differently
A number of years ago, my family and I planted nine hundred and
fifty apple trees on our farm in middle Tennessee. Those spindly
little saplings eventually produced thousands of bushels of apples
per year. Over the years, we learned what to do, and what not to do
to produce good fruit. In the same manner that I had to work the
soil, plant the trees, fertilize, prune, spray and perform the
multitude of tasks necessary to produce good apples; God has to
complete similar tasks in us. He is the husbandman, the grower of
the fruit. Over the years, I have learned many principles about
growth and fruit production. The purpose of this book is to apply
those principles of apple production to the process God uses to
produce quality fruit in us. What is there about a beautiful red or
golden ripe apple hanging on a tree that begs you to reach out and
pick it? There is no question that you are seeing the reason for
the existence of the apple tree. Apple trees make poor shade trees
and are too gnarled and crooked for timber. The only purpose for an
apple tree is to produce apples. What is the purpose of a
Christian? Why are we on this earth? The answer is found in the
Gospel of John, chapter 15, vs. 16 which says, "You did not choose
Me, but I chose you, and appointed you, that you should go and bear
fruit, and that your fruit should remain." The purpose of a
Christian like that of the apple tree is to bear fruit for God.
Verse 8 of that same chapter of John says, "By this is My Father
glorified, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My
disciples." God wants us to bear fruit, and He is glorified when we
do. What a waste it is for a tree to spend years growing to
maturity, drinking up the water and nutrients from the soil and
taking up valuable space, and then produce no fruit. How much more
of a waste it is for a man or woman to be born into the Kingdom of
God, grow to maturity, be fed spiritual food, take their place in
the church, and yet miss the very purpose for whi

Along the way are hurricanes in the Atlantic, typhoons and

and on Navy liberty ashore, as well as rescues at sea--including
the famous sinking of the Mary E in the 1976 Miami-Nassau race.
There are also evocative stories of idyllic cruises and places,
like Nantucket, Scandinavia, Greece, and the coasts of the United

frequently dramatic cast of characters, including yachts

machines, and most things in between--old and new, large and small,
in storm and calm. His has been a rich sailing life and his stories
tell of it with fascination and inescapable entertainment.
