How can education become a transformative experience for all learners and teachers? The contributors to this volume contend that the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) can provide a strong foundation for the role of education in promoting social justice. The collection features contributions by an array of educators and scholars, highlighting the various ways that learners and teachers can prepare for and engage with social justice concerns. The essays offer reflections on the value of SoTL in relation to educational ethics, marginalized groups, community service and activism, counter narratives, and a range of classroom practices. Although the contributors work in a variety of disciplines and employ different theoretical frameworks, they are united by the conviction that education should improve our lives by promoting equity and social justice.
This fascinating collection of over 200 archive images explores the historic market town and port of Ulverston. Situated on the Furness peninsula at the southernmost tip of the Lake District, Ulverston has a long and proud past, and has witnessed many changes. The original settlement had its roots in medieval times - Ulverston existed before the Norman Conquest and the Parish Church is dated 1111 - but the real expansion of the town occurred as Ulverston developed as an iron-ore port and with the opening of the Ulverston Canal in 1796. This book depicts the changing face of Ulverston over the last 150 years, describing the streets, shops, pubs, industries and the people who formed the heart of this strong community.

This isn't a new theory. This book is a result of over 30 years of
pratical experience, successfully performed many times for start-up
companies, large corporations, individual departments, teams and
nonprofits alike. The challenge today is to create a well-run
organization and keep it that way. A well-run organization is one
that is "aligned" within itself: each person, team, or division
working seemlessly together. It can happen. There are twelve
components to every well-aligned organization, no matter how big or
small or in which industry. By using the 12 steps outlined in this
book you will align your organization, profits will follow, and
your company will stay strong.
