Christian exegesis of the Song of Songs has long interacted creatively with - and, more recently, reacted critically against - the allegorical interpretation developed by Origen of Alexandria (c.185-c.254) in his Commentary and two Homilies on the Song of Songs. Interest in Origen's exegesis of the Song's narrative elements has dominated past scholarship, which has almost entirely ignored how Origen assesses the Song itself, in its unity as a revealed text. This study aims to show that the Commentary and Homilies - when read in light of Origen's hermeneutic, his nuptial theology, his understanding of the prophetic mediation of inspired texts, and his doctrine of last things - clearly portray the Song of Songs itself as the divine Bridegroom's perfect marriage-song. As such, it mediates Christ's eschatological presence, as the spirit' of Scripture, in and through the intelligible structures of the text itself.

Premchand is one of the most outstanding figures in twentieth-century Hindi literature. His novels and short stories dealing with the lives of everyday heroes have attained the status of classics. His works continue to be rediscovered and to captivate new generations of readers in India and abroad. The inhumanity of caste hierarchies and the plight of women stirred his indignation and remained constant themes through his works. Of his many novels, Rangbhumi (Battleground, 1924-5) depicts most graphically the devastation of peasant society and agriculture under colonial rule. Premchand treads the very tricky ground of tensions between the rulers and the ruled in this novel. Here, the ruled are the Indians and the rulers are an amalgam of the whites, the Indian landowners, and the Indian Christians. Rangbhumi spans the time between the 1920s and 1930s in pre-Independence India. It captures and celebrates the unassailable spirit of the common man, especially the farming community, whic h knows no defeat or submission, as its spirit is always on the mend, even as it is perceived to be finally crushed.

They have seen the Iran-Iraq war from 1980-1988 and the two Gulf Wars with U.S. involvement, that made the Persian Gulf a highly volatile region. Historically, the actions taken by America in the region have been driven by mainly two interests: First, ensuring a continued flow of oil exports of the countries and second, preventing a regional hegemon dominating the politics of the Persian Gulf. These interests had been brought to paper with the Carter Doctrine in 1980 in light of the growing assertiveness of the Soviet Union in the Persian Gulf. Since 9/11, there is also the interest of counterterrorism and today, another power after the Soviet Union tries to seize regional hegemony. The Persian Gulf is now home to a country ruled by a regime that wants to destroy the Israeli state and supports terrorist organizations like Hezbollah and Hamas to further destabilize the region. Furthermore, unrest or even clashes between Sunnis and Shiites in the Persian Gulf countries are possible as they are either majority or minority in a state and oppressed by the antagonistic ruling group. Iran is the main representative of the Shiites, while the GCC countries are ruled by Sunni leaders. The goal of this paper will be to show awareness of the problems in the Persian Gulf, address U.S. interests in the region, identify threats to these interests and provide policy recommendations in how the United States should pursue its Foreign Policy in the Persian Gulf. In der Region erstreckt sich seit dem 20. Jahrhundert ein Territorialkonflikt um die Vorherrschaft uber das umliegende Gewasser und die Souveranitat uber die Spratly- und Paracel-Inselgruppen zwischen China, Vietnam, Taiwan, Brunei, Malaysia und den Philippinnen. Vor allem China und Vietnam, die auf eine wechselvolle Geschichte zuruckblicken und heute Partner und Rivale zugleich sind, bilden vermehrt das Zentrum des Konflikts. So lasst schon Samuel Huntington in seinem gleichnamigen umstrittenen Buch einen fiktiven Clash of Civilizations" im Jahr 2010 mit einem Ausbrechen des Konfliktes beginnen, bei dem China das Sudchinesische Meer allein kontrollieren will, auf vietnamesischen Boden einmarschiert und folgend auf Widerstand der USA stosst (vgl.
