Magical images that defy time from the grand master of conceptual photography. Through his expansive exploration of the possibilities of still images, the internationally renowned artist and photographer Hiroshi Sugimoto has created some of the most alluringly enigmatic photographs of our time; pictures that are meticulously crafted and deeply thought-provoking, familiar yet tantalisingly ambiguous. Hiroshi Sugimoto: Time Machine is a comprehensive survey of work produced over the past five decades, featuring selections from all of Sugimoto’s major photographic series, as well as lesser-known works that illuminate his innovative, conceptually-driven approach to making pictures. Texts by a collection of international writers, artists and scholars - including Geoffrey Batchen, Edmund de Waal, Mami Kataoka, Ralph Rugoff, Lara Strongman and Margaret Wertheim - will highlight his work’s philosophical yet playful inquiry into the nature of representation and art, our understanding of time and memory, and the paradoxical character of photography as a medium suited to both documenting and invention.

The peaceful monolithic language of Chipperfield's architecture is evidenced in his design for the third and final building in a complex for the German clothing retailer Ernsting. Chipperfield's building stands on a greenfield site in the small town of Coesfeld-Letter, just west of Munster; its companions are two distribution centers built in the late 1990s by Fabio Reinhardt and Bruno Reichlin with Santiago Calatrava, and by Shilling Architects. Chipperfield's structure completes the Ernsting compound and provides office space for business and retail managers as well as a Research & Development department. Christian Richters' and Edmund Sumner's photographs of Chipperfield's architecture reveal its harmonious relationship with the organic curves of peter Wirtz's landscape design, while Jay Wolke's photographic studies of the workplace illustrate the highly successful collaboration between client and architect that created a freedom-filled place for Ernsting's employees to think and work.

Celebrating the generous gift of Barbara Hepworth's plasters to The Hepworth Wakefield by the Hepworth Estate, this groundbreaking publication combines a fully illustrated catalogue of the sculptor's surviving prototypes in plaster, and occasionally aluminium, with a detailed analysis of her working methods and a comprehensive history of her work in bronze. In addition, insights into the building which will be home to the collection are provided through essays exploring the history of The Hepworth and, in a contribution by David Chipperfield, the design of the new museum by his architectural practice.
