Churches must lead people to dependence on Jesus. When we give ourselves wholly to Christ, He will fill us wholly, replacing the hollowness that results in addictions. In twelve practical steps, Williams reveals how to achieve spiritual fulfillment in Christ, discover freedom from addiction, and embrace the abundant life that God promises to all of His followers.
This collection of poetry can best be described as modern interpretations to age old struggles. Because of our internal conflicts in regards to finding our "niche" in this world, these works attempt to explore the feelings of doubt and frustration felt by so many. Generally considered to be a lost generation, we are confronted with many issues. The poems herein attempt, at least in some fashion, to illuminate some of the troubling aspects of life with which we wrestle. Some of the poetry is intrinsically dark by nature, exploring the many different paths to destruction that we as a people seem so hell-bent on traveling. Many deal with the controversial and deeply personal subject of faith and often, the lack thereof. Other topics covered include my relationship with my father, the inevitability of death and issues of spirituality. My own deeply personal struggles with alcoholism and addiction and other perplexing life issues are also included, as is the prevailing sense of disconnectedness that others of my generation and myself share. Still other poems are dedicated to fond memories, the richness of life, the call to arms of helping our fellow man and the glory of living with purpose. More simply, it is my personal take on the things I've observed while participating in life. In as much, the poems are the Reflections of
General editor Lloyd J. Ogilvie brings together a team of skilled and exceptional communicators to blend sound scholarship with life-related illustrations. The design for the Preacher's Commentary gives the reader an overall outline of each book of the Bible. Following the introduction, which reveals the author's approach and salient background on the book, each chapter of the commentary provides the Scripture to be exposited. The New King James Bible has been chosen for the Preacher's Commentary because it combines with integrity the beauty of language, underlying Hebrew and Greek textual basis, and thought-flow of the 1611 King James Version, while replacing obsolete verb forms and other archaisms with their everyday contemporary counterparts for greater readability. Reverence for God is preserved in the capitalization of all pronouns referring to the Father, Son, or Holy Spirit. Readers who are more comfortable with another translation can readily find the parallel passage by means of the chapter and verse reference at the end of each passage being exposited. The paragraphs of exposition combine fresh insights to the Scripture, application, rich illustrative material, and innovative ways of utilizing the vibrant truth for his or her own life and for the challenge of communicating it with vigor and vitality.

An exploration of what worship looks like from a biblical standpoint and why the topic of worship can be so contentious among Christians. Because worship is inherently theological--because it's a manifestation of humanity's response to God's holiness--it's important to take seriously how we worship and the roles it serves in personal displays of adoration and in community with other believers. Exploring the Worship Spectrum provides an overview, critique, and celebration of six prominent worship styles: Formal-Liturgical - represented by Paul Zahl Traditional Hymn-Based - represented by Harold Best Contemporary Music-Driven - represented by Joe Horness Charismatic - represented by Don Williams Blended - represented by Robert Webber Emerging - represented by Sally Morgenthaler This unique format allows those with a heart for worship to compare different perspectives and draw their own conclusions on what the Bible teaches. It allows readers to understand the various approaches to worship, carefully evaluate their strengths and weaknesses, and make personal choices without adopting a judgmental spirit. The Counterpoints series presents a comparison and critique of scholarly views on topics important to Christians that are both fair-minded and respectful of the biblical text. Each volume is a one-stop reference that allows readers to evaluate the different positions on a specific issue and form their own, educated opinion.
