Unlike some other reproductions of classic texts (1) We have not
used OCR(Optical Character Recognition), as this leads to bad
quality books with introduced typos. (2) In books where there are
images such as portraits, maps, sketches etc We have endeavoured to
keep the quality of these images, so they represent accurately the
original artefact. Although occasionally there may be certain
imperfections with these old texts, we feel they deserve to be made

In light of recent sociological events and the COVID-19 pandemic,
education has undergone an incredible change in both policy and
delivery. As a result, many educators have sought different career
paths. It is essential to maintain a concentrated effort to retain
educators; however, recruiting teachers into the profession is only
one area of focus; there must be intentional support for teacher
development along the educator continuum in order to sustain the
profession through institutional struggles. The Handbook of
Research on the Educator Continuum and Development of Teachers
expands on the body of research related to the educator continuum
with a holistic view of teacher development. This book combines
theory, concepts, and research studies that pinpoint facets of the
educator continuum, providing researchers with scholarly
contributions that advance the profession. Covering topics such as
instructional coaching, special educator career development, and
teacher retention, this major reference work is a valuable resource
for educational faculty and administration, teacher colleges,
educators of K-12 and higher education, pre-service teachers,
government officials, teacher education administrators, libraries,
researchers, and academicians.
Fresh insights into the pathogenic mechanisms by which
hyperglycemia induces tissue and organ injurt are the basis for
rapidly evolving promising therapies in diabetes. Especially
promising as targets for intervention are products of oxidative
stress, including kinins and growth factors. Improving results of
renal replacement regimes now incorporating pancreatic islet
transplants are able to delay and prevent end-organ damage in
diabetic individuals. The evolving story of the taming of diabetes
is of direct concern to nephrologists, endocrinologists,
ophthalmologists, primary care physicians and medical students.
After a decade or longer, approximately one-third of individuals
with either type 1 or type 2 diabetes commence a downhill course in
which decreasing renal function and failing vision define a
Renal-Retinal Syndrome, dominating all aspects of life and
presaging early death. Only a generation ago, survival after onset
of end-stage renal disease (ESRD) in diabetes was limited because
rehabilitation was preempted by blindness, limb amputation, stroke,
and heart disease. By 1998, however, team management has improved
the outlook, with preserved sight and return to work and home
responsibilities, usually for a decade or longer, following kidney
transplantation and laser photocoagulation. Recognition of the
critical requirement for blood pressure regulation and metabolic
control are central themes in management. In this unique book, the
accomplishments of ophthalmologists, nephrologists, diabetologists,
transplant surgeons, and basic scientists are blended into a
strategic approach that may be readily applied by all those caring
for diabetic patients. Each of twenty-one presentations suitable
for primary care physicians, as well as for subspecialists
concerned with macrovascular and microvascular complications of
diabetes, is placed in perspective by an introductory editorial
analysis. Promising near-term innovative therapies, including
insertion of genetically engineered beta cells or polymer-coated
islets of Langerhans, interdiction of kinins that promote retinal
angiogenesis, and prevention of synthesis of advanced glycosylated
endproducts (AGEs), are presented in detail. While comprehensive
care of diabetic patients reflects multiple incremental advances
that in sum afford major benefit, this text envisions further
remarkable changes likely to suppress and possibly entirely prevent
the Diabetic Renal-Retinal Syndrome.

Civilization has reached a critical threshold in time unlike any
other. Whether life continues to evolve or devolve depends upon our
ability to reach higher states of consciousness en masse. This
requires calling upon the transformative power of the soul-a power
not handed to us, but earned. We are living proof that the physical
and spiritual realms of existence work together in unity. Yet for
many of us our natural soul light and inner spiritual intuition are
suppressed due to the distractions of day-to-day living and the
electromagnetic pollution of our screen-filled technological world.
In this exploration of the multidimensional interplay between the
body, mind, and spirit, Carrie L'Esperance reveals how we can
restore the flow of spiritual light in everyday living through the
art of self-mastery. She explains how technology has severely
reduced humanity's natural abilities and spiritual power. She shows
how EMFs and wi-fi toast our energetic bodily systems and suppress
our immune systems, blocking the ethereal frequencies of light and
suppressing our creative intuition and higher powers. Preparing us
for the new cosmology and the greater community of worlds that is
being revealed, L'Esperance shows that when we are properly
connected with our soul's intelligence and cultivate the reception
of higher frequencies of consciousness, then we are able to soul
breathe, to absorb more pranic energy, the electromagnetic force
and cosmic radiation that is the sustaining element of all life and
consciousness.
Shadow Land is the personal history of Victorian spiritualist and
celebrity medium Elizabeth d'Esperance, renown throughout Europe
for the dramatic, full-form spirit manifestations she performed
before astonished sitters. Weaving the events of her life into a
thoroughly engaging narrative, she recounts the passage of her
childhood in the company of otherworldly "shadow people," her early
forays into automatic writing and the seance, and their attendant
fears of madness and of the Devil. She describes in rich, absorbing
detail the subjective experience of inhabiting the medium's altered
state, as well as the horror of sensing one's own identity being
subsumed by another. A uniquely introspective and
powerfully-written memoir, Shadow Land is the story of an
extraordinary, life-long quest for the truth that resolves in a
passionate visionary experience and a message of hope.
To what extremes would you go to provide for your family? Would you
turn to crime to keep the wolf from your door? Would you resort to
an act of domestic terrorism that threatens the peace of an
American city? In Terror from Within, Craig L'Esperance's
explosive, authentic crime thriller, domestic terrorism is taken to
a new level when the recent economic downturn hits a small suburb
northwest of Detroit. Penetrating the thin blue line to shed
eye-opening light on the criminal mind and the American justice
system, Terror from Within follows the catastrophic course of one
man in an all-too-imaginable contemporary predicament-as well as
the detectives who must tap their considerable skill, wits, and
dedication to respond to his ill-fated actions. Robert Whitlock, a
down-and-out Michigan native has lost his job, and, along with it,
his wife and children. Served with divorce papers and an order of
protection, Robert finds himself banished from his own house. As he
struggles to cope with the pending court battle, his resulting
tailspin forces him to make some decisions that compromise his
moral fiber. A mundane burglary quickly takes a terrorizing and
unexpected twist into something more sinister, cunning, and even
deadly. It's up to a true man in blue in the form of a
self-sacrificing career cop to change this deadly chain of events.
Detective Blake Talbot embraces a tenacious work ethic that allows
the budget-strapped detective bureau to continue running smoothly
despite recent cuts. In the exacting, gripping real detail that
only a veteran law enforcement agent can provide, Terror from
Within serves up a play-by-play of every loaded moment of the
investigation, as Blake furiously gathers and analyzes events and
evidence to thwart a terrifying local threat that is chillingly
real for all of us. It's a must-read for anyone who craves the real
deal in law enforcement, and relishes a suspense-driven read where
only a few good men can secure a city.
