Cataloguing and Classification introduces concepts and practices in cataloguing and classification, and common library standards. The book introduces and analyzes the principles and structures of library catalogues, including the application of AACR2, RDA, DDC, LCC, LCSH and MARC 21 standards, and conceptual models such as ISBD, FRBR and FRAD. The text also introduces DC, MODS, METS, EAD and VRA Core metadata schemes for annotating digital resources.
Handbook of Research on Technologies and Cultural Heritage: Applications and Environments covers the many important uses information communication technology in enhancing the experience at cultural environments. From museums, to archaeological sites, to festivals and artistic events to even government institutions and public buildings, information communication technology is revolutionizing the way the public participates at and with these cultural sites, and this reference source provides both a thorough exploration of this revolution and springboard for future discoveries.
Recent studies of queries submitted to Internet Search Engines have shown that non-English queries and unclassifiable queries have nearly tripled during the last decade. Most search engines were originally engineered for English. Although in recent years search engines have improved their handling of non-English queries, studies show that many problems still exist and are worthy of further research. The primary aim of this research study is to present an evaluation methodology for identifying the shortcomings and measuring the effectiveness of search engines with non-English queries. The focus of the research is on the Greek language but the findings and methods could be applied in other non-English and non-Latin languages.
As the complexity and features of e-learning tools increase, there is an inherent need for systems to interoperate and share data and the accumulated knowledge about learners. The interoperation and data sharing abilities will eventually lead to the creation of more innovative and knowledgeable applications. The primary aim of this research study is to explore alternative adaptation methods in e-testing tools, where the goals and the previous knowledge of learners will be considered during the adaptation process. Efficient ways for increasing data re-usability and the interoperability among e-learning applications, by using e-learning standards, is another purpose of the current work.
Handbook of Research on E-Learning Standards and Interoperability: Frameworks and Issues promotes the discussion of specific solutions for increasing the interoperability of standalone and Web-based educational tools. This book investigates issues arising from the deployment of learning standards and provides relevant theoretical frameworks and leading empirical research findings. Chapters presented in this work are suitable for practitioners and researchers in the area of educational technology with a focus on content reusability and interoperability.
Developing and Utilizing E-Learning Applications provides a complete investigation of new methods, technologies, and practices critical to modern educational environments. Exploring topics such as virtual worlds, learning methods, and ICTs as well as interoperability in e-learning environments, this reference provides essential knowledge for educators, practitioners, and students alike.
