The original impetus for this research was provided several years
ago by a request to assist Counsel for Fidelity Management and
Research Corporation in analyzing the mutual fund industry, with
particular emphasis on money market mutual funds. We were asked to
focus our efforts on the mechanism by which the advisory fees of
mutual funds are determined. This request arose out of litigation
that challenged the level of advisory fees charged to the
shareholders of the Fidelity Cash Reserve Fund. Subsequently, we
were asked to provide similar assistance to Counsel for T. Rowe
Price Associates regarding the fees charged to shareholders of
their Prime Reserve Fund. 1940, advisers of Under the Investment
Company Act of mutual funds have a fiduciary duty with respect to
the level of fees they may charge a fund's shareholders. Since the
passage of the Investment Company Act, there have been numerous
lawsuits brought by shareholders alleging that advisory fees were
excessive. In these lawsuits, the courts have failed to provide a
set of standards for determining when such fees are excessive.
Instead, they have relied on arbitrary and frequently ill-defined
criteria for jUdging the reasonableness of fees. This failure to
apply economic-based tests for evaluating the fee structure of
mutual funds provided the motivation for the present book, which
undertakes a comprehensive analysis of the economics of the mutual
fund industry.
Expert authors provide critical, in-depth reviews of available
methods for retrieving selective information out of complex
biological systems. Sensors, probes and devices are present and
future tools of medicinal diagnostics, environmental monitoring,
food analysis and molecular biology. These are based on
fluorescence, electrochemistry and mass spectrometry. Coverage of
this volume includes sensor development for the detection of small
analytes, monitoring of biomolecular interactions, analysis of
cellular function, development of diagnostic tools.
Caveolae (latin for little caves) are small structures found at the
surface of cells. They are responsible for the regulation of
important metabolic pathway. As a consequence, they may play a
critical role in several human diseases such as atherosclerosis,
cancer, diabetes, and muscular dystrophies. This book analyzes the
role and function of caveolae in these aspects and serves as the
first textbook currently available on caveolae/caveolin.

The book collects the scientific contributions presented at the
10th Workshop on Self-Organizing Maps (WSOM 2014) held at the
University of Applied Sciences Mittweida, Mittweida (Germany,
Saxony), on July 2 4, 2014. Starting with the first WSOM-workshop
1997 in Helsinki this workshop focuses on newest results in the
field of supervised and unsupervised vector quantization like
self-organizing maps for data mining and data classification.
This 10th WSOM brought together more than 50 researchers,
experts and practitioners in the beautiful small town Mittweida in
Saxony (Germany) nearby the mountains "Erzgebirge" to discuss new
developments in the field of unsupervised self-organizing vector
quantization systems and learning vector quantization approaches
for classification. The book contains the accepted papers of the
workshop after a careful review process as well as summaries of the
invited talks.Among these book chapters there are excellent
examples of the use of self-organizing maps in agriculture,
computer science, data visualization, health systems, economics,
engineering, social sciences, text and image analysis and time
series analysis. Other chapters present the latest theoretical work
on self-organizing maps as well as learning vector quantization
methods, such as relating those methods to classical statistical
decision methods.
All the contribution demonstrate that vector quantization
methods cover a large range of application areas including data
visualization of high-dimensional complex data, advanced decision
making and classification or data clustering and data
compression."
Methamphetamine is one of the most widely abused stimulants and
together with amphetamine has led to serious social problems.
Numerous papers in the fields of medicine, toxicology,
pharmacology, sociology, etc. have appeared. In Japan for example
about 20,000 to 22,000 persons have been arrested in recent years
on suspicion of abuse, smuggling or illegal manufacture of drugs.
In other countries, stimulant drugs also present social problems
and efforts have been directed toward prevention. Although marked
development of analytical techniques in the field of forensic
sciences has been achieved, there is a need for a continuous review
of recent advances. A review of studies on methamphetamine has
therefore been made from the standpoint of forensic toxicology and
legal medicine. Attention has been directed to biological samples
because analyses and interpretation for the purpose of
t.oxicological and As a detailed survey on abuse drugs involving
clinical practice are important. 1 methamphetamine and amphetamine
has been made by Fishbein and covered the time before 1980, we
refer only to data and events appearing after 1980.

Der Grundgedanke dieses Buches ist der pragmatische Umgang mit
Komplikationen, also wertfreies Aufzeigen des Abweichens vom
jeweiligen politisch-kulturellen Kontextes - aufgezeigt.
Frank-Michael Brinkmann veranschaulicht die Entwicklung von
flexiblen Partialkostenrechnungen und untersucht die wesentlichen
Einflussfaktoren und Freiheitsgrade fur die Gestaltung einer
funktionsbezogenen Kostenrechnung. Exemplarisch konkretisiert er
dies fur eine Instandhaltungskostenrechnung."
