To compile this stunning visual portrait of wildlife on six
continents, Gerald Hoberman traveled thousands of miles to some of
the remotest wilderness regions on earth. He crossed the vast
African plains to record the wonder of its bounteous and diverse
wildlife. He has come face to face with the mighty tiger, looked
into the eyes of polar bears, and taken a rare glimpse at the
extraordinary animals that inhabit South America's rain forests.
This collection of breathtaking photographs - the best of Gerald
Hoberman's work over two decades - is accompanied by personal
accounts of his experiences in the wild.
This title features 72 of South Africa’s finest exclusive safari
lodges with their eclectic mix of fabulous interiors and the
abundance of wildlife that surrounds them. In this epic volume,
Gerald Hoberman reveals the distinctive attributes of each
exclusive safari lodge, making it an ideal book for armchair
travellers and those planning a safari holiday where the things
that count are comfort, luxury, fabulous food, exceptional service,
and excellent game- viewing opportunities. The entertaining and
informative text on each lodge by well-known travel writer Carrie
Hampton provides a perfect accompaniment to Hoberman’s photography
and descriptive observations of his encounters in the wild.
Created in honour of the innocent victims of the deadly September
11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the US, Gerald and Marc Hoberman
offer this moving tribute to the city of New York and its
courageous citizens. Featuring images taken in the months prior to
the attacks that destroyed the World Trade Center buildings, this
booklet highlights the city of New York, as well as the twin towers
that stood as a symbol, not just of New York, but also of the
promise and prosperity of the US. This commemorative booklet
includes seven new images not found in the hardcover edition of New
York, each one featuring the World Trade Center buildings, giving
readers the opportunity to share in remembering the tragic events
of their destruction. A donation is made to disaster relief for
each book purchased.
South Africa is a place of wonder, intrigue and glorious color. In
search of the soul of a newly awakening land, Gerald Hoberman has
photographed an ancient sacrifical ceremony of the Xhosa, captured
the lifestyle of Bushmen living close to the land, and shared
mampoer, a homemade brew, with farmers in the Groot Marica
district. With South Africa, Gerald Hoberman has captured a
beautiful country and its people in a time of excitement and
transformation, while retaining an eye for that which does not
change; old places and ancient customs upon which time seems to
have no grasp. This splendid volume is a must for all those with an
interest in this remarkable country on the southern tip of Africa.
In a unique cultural statement, Kaapse Klopse features the
colourful and lively Cape Town Minstrel Carnival, held for the
first three days of the New Year. The music and dance style of the
'Kaapse Klopse' (Cape Minstrels) was influenced by the North
American minstrel troupes that visited the Cape in the late 1880s.
Traditionally, the colourful and lively minstrels cavort through
the city, singing and dancing to the sound of banjos, tubas,
guitars, ghoema drums and whistles. The book features extraordinary
contemporary photographs of this event by Gerald Hoberman, with an
historical overview as well as unique photographs of District Six
and Bo-Kaap, taken by him in 1969. The entertaining and insightful
traditional minstrel songs are published with English translations
for the first time - a valuable contribution to the cultural
history of the Cape.

moments, not to be missed. "Exclusive Safari Lodges of South
Africa" also sets a new benchmark for cutting-edge 21st-century

authentic African safari. From the hairs on the hind legs of an ant
to the eyelashes of an elephant, little escapes Hoberman's

Twenty of Gerald and Marc Hoberman's most compelling images of
Washington, D.C. are collected in this incredible full-color
postcard book. The book includes photographs of all the major
monuments: Washington, Lincoln, and Jefferson, as well as important
landmarks such as the Capitol Building, the White House, and
Arlington National Cemetery. Micro perforations make the postcards
easy to remove and send to friends and family, but these colorful
books also make great souvenirs of a trip to the U.S. capital city.
South Africa is a place of wonder, intrigue and glorious color. The
author has captured the magnificent diversity of its landscapes and
its people. South Africa - a compelling portrait of a remarkable
country viewed at a time of great change - includes images of
Robben Island taken shortly after Nelson Mandela's release from
prison.
Gerald and Marc Hoberman's "London" is the very quintessence of
this great city, an incisive manifestation of surprise and delight.
It is a celebration and an important record of England's capital at
the dawn of the new millennium. The well-known comment of Samuel
Johnson, 'When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life', is
as true today as it was in 1777. Johnson went on to say, 'for there
is in London all that life can afford', which also still holds
good. It is a city which bursts with museums and galleries, some of
which are amongst the finest in the world; it has one of the
highest number of theatres found in any capital city; it is a
shopper's paradise for the discerning buyer and bargain-hunter
alike; its pubs, clubs and restaurants are numerous, varied and
legendary; and it has vast expanses of parkland for recreation and
leisure. London is a city of immense size, where the old and the
new live comfortably cheek by jowl. Pageantry, modern technology,
quaint customs, the latest in fashion, ancient traditions, the
bustle of modern-day life, the tranquillity of a garden square,
international finance, street traders and architectural
masterpieces appear to have been thrown into a vast melting pot and
have survived to provide an irresistible medley of ancient and
modern. "London", in both pictures and words, speaks for itself.
This unique volume brings together two visual masters: Donald
Greig, one of Africa’s finest wildlife sculptors, and Gerald
Hoberman, internationally renowned wildlife photographer, writer,
and designer. The juxtaposition of Greig's sculptures and
Hoberman's photographs of the actual animals they represent offers
an exciting exploration of the ability of both sculptor and
photographer to capture the essential qualities of their subjects.
The essence of some twenty- five years of patience, passion, and
the pursuit of excellence, Wildlife of Africa reflects Gerald
Hoberman's quest to share his love of the wild with others and, by
so doing, help to promote and preserve this important heritage for
future generations.
