and empirical framework, integrating interdisciplinary perspectives
from communications theory, psychology, sociology, educational
sciences, systems theory and constructivism. Its aim is to inform

How is it possible to sustainably implement the ideas of the Right
Livelihood Award - also known as the "Alternative Nobel Prize" - in
educational and teaching methods of learning as part of
future-oriented teacher training? This book addresses this issue in
the form of a combination of articles from both an academic and
school-related point of view. Education researchers, subject
educationalists, expert scientists and teacher trainers present
exemplary formats with which prospective teachers can be qualified
for the wide-ranging requirements imposed on them as part of
globalization and internationalization: teachers need to perform
their educational mandate in a globally networked and mobile
society which is also characterized by linguistic, ethnic,
religious and cultural heterogeneity. They have to illustrate the
complexity of the globalization processes to their pupils and
provide suitable opportunities for learning in order to deal
productively with the changed future requirements. In the formats,
the contents of Right Livelihood - especially questions concerning
ecology, social justice and peace - are addressed in a manner that
is age-appropriate and related to experience. Moreover they are
dealt with in an interdisciplinary context. The objective is to
jointly incorporate the subject of Global Learning as Part of
Education for Sustainable Development in the teacher education
course and to realize it directly at the chalk face.
To address the grand challenges of the 21st century, societies must
undergo substantial transformations. Whether the Sustainable
Development Goals (SDGs), set in place by the United Nations as
targets to be reached by 2030, can be reached will depend in part
on how successfully education strategies empower learners of all
ages with the knowledge, skills, values, and attitudes to transform
themselves, their communities, and their societies. Educational
institutions have critical roles to play in facilitating and
supporting these transitions. To fulfill this vision and be
transformational, however, education and educational institutions
themselves will have to be transformed. Digitalization, New Media,
and Education for Sustainable Development explores how
digitalization and new media are already shaping and will shape the
transformation of international educational systems. It examines
all aspects related to and interconnections between digitalization,
new media, and education for sustainable development. Covering
topics such as biased design, energy smart schools, and
project-based learning, this premier reference source is an
indispensable resource for educators and administrators of both
K-12 and higher education, preservice teachers, teacher educators,
government officials, policymakers, community leaders, researchers,
and academicians.
Trotz vielfaltiger Initiativen und Aktivitaten in Politik,
Wirtschaft, Zivilgesellschaft und Wissenschaft bleibt der Ubergang
in eine nachhaltige Gesellschaft eine der zentralen
Herausforderungen unserer Zeit. Eine wichtige Voraussetzung fur die
weitere Etablierung von Nachhaltigkeit in unterschiedlichen
Gesellschaftsbereichen liegt in der Professionalisierung der
Entscheidungstrager von morgen. Dazu ist eine angemessene
nachhaltigkeitswissenschaftliche (Aus-)Bildung erforderlich.

An diesem Punkt setzten
die Beitrage des vorliegenden Sammelbandes an: Welche
Voraussetzungen, Dispositionen, Vorerfahrungen, kurz: Welches
unbefriedigend. Internationale (z. B. UNCED 1992) und nationale
AnstAAe (z.B. Umweltgutachten 1994 des SachverstAndigenrats fA1/4r
Umweltfragen) gebieten, Grundlagen und Ergebnisse bisheriger
MaAnahmen zu A1/4berprA1/4fen. Gegenstand dieser Evaluationsstudie
sind A1/4ber einhundert Forschungsvorhaben und Modellversuche aus
den Jahren 1987 bis 1995. Kriterien der Auswertung sind
Konzeptionen, Inhalte, Lernprozesse, Kooperation, Medien und
Materialien, A-kologisierung, Fortbildung, Verbreitung und
Anwendung sowie Innovationseffekte. Aus alledem werden konkrete
Empfehlungen fA1/4r eine "kulturelle Wende" der Umweltbildung
abgeleitet.
