New from Bradt, Greenland is the first standalone travel guidebook to the country from a mainstream publisher. Targeted at independent travellers, but equally serving those visiting on organised tours or cruises, this guide combines essential information - such as getting around on an island lacking roads connecting the major settlements - with advice on what to see and do, and where to stay and eat. Every chapter is infused with Greenland's remarkable combination of pristine nature and traditional culture, which sets it apart from Arctic neighbours - and which makes a trip so rewarding. The world's twelfth-largest country, but also part of the Kingdom of Denmark, Greenland sits near the top of the world, a vast expanse of white in a planet full of green, blue and brown. Today's visitors relish opportunities for close encounters with immense icebergs and glaciers. The epic scenery provides the backdrop to the numerous activities on offer - from visiting the world's second-largest ice sheet or taking to the sea in search of fifteen species of whale, and from hiking the 160-km-long Arctic Circle Trail to seeking out polar bears, musk oxen and walruses. Greenland in winter is another world, the endless night brightened by the mesmerising northern lights. It remains a snowy paradise until spring - the best time to travel by dog sled or snowmobile across the frozen tundra. To relax afterwards, why not close your trip with a few days of nature-inspired art, eclectic culture and fine dining in the diminutive capital, Nuuk? Greenland has always been a destination for pioneering explorers, be they the Inuit who arrived from the west, the Norsemen who came from the east or mariners seeking the Northwest Passage. Part of the attraction for today's visitors is to experience an element of the challenges they faced. Although travel within Greenland can be tricky given limited infrastructure and often adverse weather conditions, it can also be a remarkably easy place in which to travel, with the right planning, a flexible attitude and the right advice - which is precisely where Bradt's Greenland comes in. Let it be your guide to a truly staggering country.
This accessible Handbook provides an essential entry point for those with an interest in the increasingly complex subject of financial decision-making. It sheds light on new paradigms in society and the ways that new tools from private actors have affected financial decision-making. Covering a broad range of key topics in the area, leading researchers summarise the state of the art in their respective areas of expertise, delineating their projections for the future. Chapters cover both more traditional fields, such as regulation and the role of analysts, and emerging fields, such as artificial intelligence, neurofinance and robo-advising. Organised into three sections, the Handbook first deals with the natural and environmental factors that impact financial decision-making, before moving on to examine the institutions, frameworks, and tools created for the purpose of aiding the decision-making process. It concludes by looking at financial advisors, household finance and enabling financial decision-making. This Handbook will be of great value to scholars and researchers invested in the fields of finance, economic psychology, business management and development. Its comprehensive introduction to current research in accounting and finance alongside multiple topics on technology and decision-making will be invaluable for practitioners, policy makers and regulators too.

An attempt to compensate for the Earth being affected by global warming results in a technological hiccup which turns the planet's surface into one great snowy expanse. The few remaining survivors, who are now holed up in underground bunkers trying to find a solution to the meteorological disaster, are confronted with difficult living conditions and the ever present threat of extinction. Colony 7, which is led by the benevolent and world-weary Briggs (Fishburne), receives a distress call from the nearby Colony 5 and Briggs recruits a team to traverse the frozen landscape and help their fellow survivors. However, when they arrive, they realise that the distress call is part of a much bigger problem when they find that Colony 5 is under attack from a group of crazed cannibals who have turned against their kin in the hope of surviving the seemingly perpetual winter...
Triple bill of zombie films. 'Zombie Apocalypse' (2011) is a made-for-TV horror starring Ving Rhames in which a group of human survivors of a zombie outbreak set out to make it to an uninfected island. Ramona (Taryn Manning), Billy (Eddie Steeples) and Kevin (Gerald Webb) are almost killed when they head out to search for food. Fortunately for them, they meet a tough group that includes Henry (Rhames) and Cassie (Lesley-Ann Brandt), who take on the zombies with weapons as diverse as a sledgehammer and a samurai sword. 'Abraham Lincoln Vs Zombies' (2012) is a tongue-in-cheek zombie horror in which Abraham Lincoln is distracted from his composition of the Gettysburg Address by a more pressing concern - an outbreak of the undead. Lincoln (Bill Oberst Jr.) leads a team of Secret Service agents to the area to try and contain the disaster. There is a suggestion that Lincoln may have some experience of dealing with zombies from his past and he takes under his wing a youngster by the name of Teddy Roosevelt (Canon Kuipers), who may have a role of his own to play in the American story. 'The Dead' (2010) is a zombie horror set in West Africa. Robert Freeman stars as Lieutenant Brian Murphy, a military engineer who finds himself stranded in the wilderness of Burkina Faso after a zombie outbreak lays waste to civilisation. Eventually he teams up with Sergeant Daniel Dembele (Prince David Oseia), a local soldier who has gone AWOL from the army to search for his missing son.
This dark romantic comedy is the debut feature for director Yann Samuell. The film follows the intimate but twisted relationship between two would-be lovers, Julien (Guillaume Canet) and Sophie (Marion Cotillard), who first meet as eight-year-olds in inauspicious circumstances: Julien's mother is dying, while Sophie is suffering ferocious bullying at school. When Julien plays a practical joke on the children who are picking on Sophie, a close friendship evolves between the two, which is based on an ongoing game of dares and forfeits. As they grow older, the game increasingly becomes a power struggle as they use it to torment and embarrass each other - but could it really be an elaborate cover for the deep affection they hold for one another?
"Long ago, when giants lived in Scotland and Ireland, they stood so tall they could see clearly across the wide water between the two lands." One day, Irish giant Finn McCool spots Scottish giant Benandonner across the sea and they immediately begin arguing about who is the best giant of all. Despite the wise advice of Finn's wife Oona, they decide the only way to settle their feud is to fight. But to meet, the daft and boastful giants must first build a causeway across the water... Inspired by Celtic folklore, best-selling Scottish children's author and storyteller Lari Don weaves a tall tale of rivalry and foolishness that recounts the origins of Northern Ireland's world-famous Giant's Causeway and its connection to Scotland's Isle of Staffa. Emilie Gill's light-hearted, characterful illustrations of the legendary giants will captivate young children.
In endocrine pathology, surgical pathologists often concentrate on neoplasms at the expense of nonneoplastic disease processes. This is unfortunate as nonneoplastic endocrine disorders are many times more common in the population. As in all fields of medicine, nonneoplastic endocrine diseases can closely mimic the neoplastic; an awareness of all aspects of pathology underpins routine clinical practice. This Fifth Series Fascicle offers pathologists and clinicians an opportunity to develop an increased understanding of nontumor endocrine pathology in order to inform patient care.
