A qualitative leap in the understanding of cardiovascular and n-
ral regulation by the renin-angiotensin system, and of the role of
this s- tem in tissue damage, has occurred as a result of the many
recent advances in molecular genetic techniques. The cloning of the
genes for the components of the renin-angiotensin system, the
design of specific angiotensin receptor ligands, and the use of
embryonic gene targeting te- niques for the creation of mutant
strains have established that the renin- angiotensin system is
important in blood pressure regulation, ion and fluid homeostasis,
and tissue growth and remodeling Further investigation of the
mechanisms by which this system p- ticipates in cardiovascular
regulation may shed some light on the pat- genesis of several
cardiovascular diseases, e. g. , hypertension, congestive heart
failure, and chronic renal failure. Despite the promise of this
system as a target for therapeutic interventions for these
diseases, there are great challenges in the integration of the
attempts to close the gap between the traditional literature of
medicine and the explosion of information from the new
technologies. This book's title, Angiotensin Protocols, reflects
the authors' strong efforts to translate expert knowledge into
easy-to-follow practice. The book opens with introductory chapters,
and each specialty section provides detailed methods covering a
wide variety of techniques, ranging from genetic manipulation of
targeted genes to functional studies of the renin- angiotensin
system.
Since the publication of the previous edition of Tumors of the
Esophagus and Stomach, great advances in many areas of tumor
biology have led to a better understanding of the pathogenesis,
pathology, and molecular biology of epithelial and stromal
malignancies of the upper gastrointestinal tract. Many of these
advances have led to specific improvements in diagnosis, prognosis,
treatment, and thus, survival in patients affected by these tumors.
This edition of the Fascicle was written to highlight these
advances, and more specifically, to help pathologists diagnose
diseases more accurately and understand how pathology contributes
to clinical treatment in the new age of personalized and targeted
therapy. Notable advances described in this publication include: 1)
expansion of our understanding of the pathologic features and
molecular pathogenesis of carcinomas of the esophagus and stomach,
most of which develop through a chronic
inflammation-metaplasia-dysplasia-carcinoma sequence. Important
refinements in the classification of neoplastic precursor lesions
have been made since the last AFIP series, including the
morphologic and endoscopic subtypes, and this has led to
improvements in surgical treatment with a strong trend toward
minimization in the form of endoscopic mucosal and submucosal
dissections 2) discovery of new diseases, such as gastric
adenocarcinoma and proximal polyposis syndrome (GAPPS), a special
variant of familial adenomatous polyposis, and significant advances
in our knowledge regarding the molecular characterization of
genetic polyposis syndromes 3) great expansion in the
molecular-pathology correlation, morphologic diversity,
classification, and therapeutic options of gastrointestinal stromal
tumors (GISTs) 4) reclassification and refinement of prognostic
factors related to neuroendocrine tumors 5) improvements in the
role of cytology in the diagnosis of tumors of the upper
gastrointestinal tract. This book has been written with the
pathologist in mind first by using tables that illustrate salient
pathologic, molecular, and differential diagnostic features of key
entities that are often difficult to distinguish from each other.
Specific color photographs of classic tumors and morphologic
variants often difficult to recognize are used throughout.
The COSPAR Colloquium on Solar-Terrestrial Magnetic Activity and
Space Environment (STMASE) was held in the National Astronomy
Observatories of Chinese Academy of Sciences (NAOC) in Beijing,
China in September 10-12, 2001. The meeting was focused on five
areas of the solar-terrestrial magnetic activity and space
environment studies, including study on solar surface magnetism;
solar magnetic activity, dynamical response of the heliosphere;
space weather prediction; and space environment exploration and
monitoring. A hot topic of space research, CMEs, which are widely
believed to be the most important phenomenon of the space
environment, is discussed in many papers. Other papers show results
of observational and theoretical studies toward better
understanding of the complicated image of the magnetic coupling
between the Sun and the Earth, although little is still known
little its physical background. Space weather prediction, which is
very important for a modern society expanding into out-space, is
another hot topic of space research. However, a long way is still
to go to predict exactly when and where a disaster will happen in
the space. In that sense, there is much to do for space environment
exploration and monitoring. The manuscripts submitted to this
Monograph are divided into the following parts: (1) solar surface
magnetism, (2) solar magnetic activity, (3) dynamical response of
the heliosphere, (4) space environment exploration and monitoring;
and (5) space weather prediction. Papers presented in this meeting
but not submitted to this Monograph are listed by title as
unpublished papers at the end of this book.

A study of early Chinese maps using interdisciplinary
methods. This is the first English-language monograph on the
early history of maps in China, centering on
those found in three tombs that date from the fourth to the
second century BCE and constitute the entire known corpus of early
Chinese maps (ditu). More than a millennium separates them from the
next available map in the early twelfth century CE. Unlike extant
studies that draw heavily from the history of cartography, this
book offers an alternative perspective by mobilizing methods from
art history, archaeology, material culture, religion, and
philosophy. It examines the diversity of forms and functions in
early Chinese ditu to argue that these pictures did not simply
represent natural topography and built environments, but rather
made and remade worlds for the living and the dead. Wang explores
the multifaceted and multifunctional diagrammatic tradition of
rendering space in early China.

Encyclopedia of Inorganic and Bioinorganic Chemistry (EIBC) was
created as an online reference in 2012 by merging the Encyclopedia
of Inorganic Chemistry and the Handbook of Metalloproteins. The
resulting combination proves to be the defining reference work in
the field of inorganic and bioinorganic chemistry, and a lot of
chemistry libraries around the world have access to the online
version. Many readers, however, prefer to have more concise
thematic volumes in print, targeted to their specific area of
interest. This feedback from EIBC readers has encouraged the
Editors to plan a series of EIBC Books [formerly called EIC Books],
focusing on topics of current interest. EIBC Books will appear on a
regular basis, will be edited by the EIBC Editors and specialist
Guest Editors, and will feature articles from leading scholars in
their fields. EIBC Books aim to provide both the starting research
student and the confirmed research worker with a critical
distillation of the leading concepts in inorganic and bioinorganic
chemistry, and provide a structured entry into the fields covered.

To whom is Moses speaking in Deuteronomy? This question is
controversial in OT scholarship. Some passages in Deuteronomy
indicate that Moses is addressing the first exodus generation that
witnessed Horeb (Deut 5:3-4), while other passages point to the
second exodus generation that survived the wilderness (Deut 1:35;
2:14-16). Redaction critics such as Thomas Roemer and John Van
Seters view the chronological problems in Deuteronomy as evidence
of multiple tradition layers. Although other scholars have
suggested that Deuteronomy's conflation of chronology is a
rhetorical move to unify Israel's generations, no analysis has thus
far explored in detail how the blending of "you" and the "fathers"
functions as a rhetorical device. However, a rhetorical approach to
the "fathers" is especially appropriate in light of three features
of Deuteronomy. First, a rhetorical approach recognizes that the
repetitiveness of the Deuteronomic style is a homiletical strategy
designed to inculcate the audience with memory. The book is shot
through with exhortations for Israel to remember the past. Second,
a rhetorical approach recognizes that collective memory entails the
transformation of the past through actualization for the present.
Third, a rhetorical approach to Deuteronomy accords well with the
book's self-presentation as "the words that Moses spoke" (1:1). The
book of Deuteronomy assumes a canonical posture by embedding the
means of its own oral and written propagation, thereby ensuring
that the voice of Moses speaking in the book of Deuteronomy
resounds in Israel's ears as a perpetually authoritative
speech-act. The Rhetoric of Remembrance demonstrates that
Deuteronomy depicts the corporate solidarity of Israel in the land
promised to the "fathers" (part 1), under the sovereignty of the
same "God of the fathers" across the nation's history (part 2), as
governed by a timeless covenant of the "fathers" between YHWH and
his people (part 3). In the narrative world of Deuteronomy, the
"fathers" begin as the patriarchs, while frequently scrolling
forward in time to include every generation that has received
YHWH's promises but nonetheless continues to await their
fulfillment. Hwang's study is an insightful, innovative approach
that addresses crucial aspects of the Deuteronomic style with a
view to the theological effect of that style. Jerry Hwang (Ph.D.,
Wheaton College) serves as Assistant Professor of Old Testament at
Singapore Bible College.

angel songs. Can her songs inspire people and make them happy and
joyful in their life, and at times even save life ? Can music or
Sarahs songs improve your life and health? What can you do to
improve your health? How can you reduce your risk of diseases and
have a happier and healthier life? Simple questions such as how to
sleep well are touched. Hope you can find helpful answers to these
questions in Music and Human Health, Sarah McLachlan, Lilith Tour.
