Globalization has become one of the dominant ideas of recent times. However, is the debate on globalization as global as it ought to be? In this book the editors have brought together prominent experts in the field to consider how globalization affects marginalized countries and groups. A variety of case studies provide a unique assessment of the issue of globalization and offer a new look at the relationship between the global and the local.
Although experts agree that various types of learning disabilities
do exist, few attempts have been made to classify learning disabled
children into subtypes. The editors of this collection feel that
the lack of subcategorization has frustrated previous research
efforts to obtain a generalizable body of knowledge in the field.
To meet this critical need for definitive information, this book
presents basic reviews and theoretical approaches used to subtype
learning disabled children -- ranging from a behavior genetics
approach to a dimensional approach. It also demonstrates actual
research methods utilizing theoretical approaches.

In this volume, the USA is treated as a system that has been
stress-tested by four unique events: the War on Terror, Hurricane
Katrina, the Financial Meltdown that led to the Great Recession and
the Giant Oil Spill. The author uses stress-testing to identify
weaknesses within the "system," and examine the response to
disaster.

William Short summs up the Franciscan tradition as 'chaotic and
intuitive, creative and affectionate, radical and obedient', and
shows it to be as appealing a way of life today as in the past. He
focuses on St Francis of Assisi and St Clare, the Franciscan
founders, offers an historical introduction to the Order before
illuminating their vision and reflects on key themes of the
Incarnation, poverty as a way to God, suffering and healing, and of
creation - humanity and nature in harmony. The book forms a bridge
between contempoary concerns and the wisdom of the past.
