Organizations are using data, information and knowledge as a
competitive weapon. Their data, information and knowledge are
arguably their most valuable assets. Yet, these assets are managed
badly (when compared to the other three assets, namely money,
people and infrastructure) with considerable risk to the
organization. Executives are accountable for the success of their
organizations and those who don’t manage this critical resource
and business enabler effectively, can be regarded as negligent. The
fourth asset an organization has is their information assets (their
data, information and knowledge). Information assets carry enormous
risk and value. Most boards and executives don’t know how to
manage IAs effectively and nobody is held accountable. Given this,
organizations should manage their information assets the way they
manage their Financial Assets. The benefits of managing IAs well
are compelling. These benefits include increased efficiency,
productivity, employee satisfaction, improved decision-making,
mitigating business risk and improving product, protecting
corporate reputation and service delivery. Drawing on
ground-breaking research, this book explains to executives the
fundamental barriers to effective information asset management and
how to overcome them. It aims to inform executive managers/leaders
about information asset management and governance in their
organization, ie. What it means to manage data, information and
knowledge. This book is unique in the sense that it takes a fresh
look at this topic, is based on experience and includes interviews
from over 70+ industry leaders. In short, this book is written by
executives, exclusively for executives, and explains where to
start.

The Defamation Act constitutes a significant overhaul of UK
defamation legislation, which follows years of concern about the
detrimental effects that preceeding libel laws had on freedom of
expression, and the extent to which the jurisdiction had become a
magnet for libel claimants. This new Blackstone's Guide combines
the full text of the Act and extracts of related relevant
legislation with an expert narrative. It brings practitioners
up-to-date with this complex piece of drafting. Its clear and
practical layout make it the ideal reference source for anyone
working in the area. The Blackstone's Guide series delivers concise
and accessible books covering the latest legislative changes and
amendments. First published soon after enactment, they offer expert
commentary by leading names on the scope, extent, and effects of
the legislation, plus a full copy of the Act itself. They provide a
cost-effective solution to key information needs and are the
perfect companion for any practitioner needing to get up to speed
with the latest changes.

Troy H. Middleton attained a remarkable record as the youngest
colonel in the American Expeditionary Force in France during World
War I, and as commander of the Army's Forty-fifth Division and
later the VIII Corps. He spent more time in combat than any other
general officer in World War II. General Middleton made key
tactical decisions in the largest and most complex military action
in which the U.S. Army has ever been involved---the Battle of the
Bulge. After the war, he bacame one of Louisiana State University's
most distinguished presidents.
In this thoroughly researched biography, Frank James Price tells
Middleton's life story from his boyhood plantation days in Copiah
County, Mississippi, to his public service acheivements after his
retirement as president of Louisiana State University in 1962.
In much of the book the author, through taped interviews, allows
Middleton to tell his own story. "His phenomenal recollection,"
says Price, "has brought alive the military and educational history
of seven decades."
In researching the book, Price interviewed and/or corresponded
with General Dwight D. Eisenhower, General Omar Bradley, and other
personal acquaintances of General Middleton.
The volume contains a generous selection of photographs.
