After Detective Becca Travis is shot during a routine patrol, she
is determined to find the gunman. Although her captain's
investigation found that the shooting was random, Becca simply
can't shake the feeling that there was something very personal
about the crime. While recuperating at home, Becca zeroes in on a
list of potential suspects. First, her ex-boyfriend whom she had
recently broken up with must be considered. Second, all of the
crooks involved in the three cold cases she was investigating the
morning she was shot. Enlisting the help of Ryan Gibbs, a family
friend and FBI agent, and her brother-in-law's security business,
Becca sets out to discover the truth. What she finds changes
everything. Becca discovers a shocking web of crimes as she follows
one case after the other. A murder/suicide investigation that was
prematurely closed by the FBI despite the locals' vehement
objections. Two armed robberies that occurred a number of years
apart but which show signs they're somehow connected. And an
undercover operation focused on a high-class call girl ring. As the
pieces slowly fall into place, Becca's search for her shooter will
ultimately lead her to devastating truths about her own horrific
childhood and maybe even a chance for love. Right Dreams, jay gee
heath's adrenaline-pumping new novel, combines romance, mystery,
and crime.
Pregnant and devastated when her controlling husband kicks her out,
May decides to leave her home. Cougars Cove, a peaceful coastal
town in western Florida, is the perfect place to start over. A
seamstress with a fine arts degree, May quickly finds a job in a
vintage clothing shop on Cougars Cove Dock, a waterfront community
of artists. As May adjusts to her new life and begins to pick up
the pieces of the old, she realizes she was never really in love
with her husband, but infatuated with the idea of him. And in her
infatuation, she lost her independence, her sense of self-and she
knows it's time to take back control. But all is not as it seems in
Cougars Cove, and when a search of a storeroom uncovers a stolen
painting, May finds herself involved in not one but two
investigations with the FBI and a handsome undercover FDLE agent.
Sparks fly between Nick and May, but Nick has always been one for
short-term fun over long-term love. When May is threatened, Nick
realizes that she has become more important to him than he could
have imagined. In this suspenseful romance, laugh and cry along
with May as she finds her way back to her independence, learns to
trust and believe in her innate talents, and gets a second chance
at a love and life she never thought possible.
He watched her walking toward the house they had once lived in
together. He had asked her to meet him. Here, in the park, across
from the house. Anxious, he had arrived early. He wouldn't have
recognized her. This wasn't the woman he had left ten months ago.
He would have walked right by this woman on the street. Well, no.
No red blooded American male would have walked right by her. They
would take one look and go brain dead, mouth hanging open. This
woman walking toward him was a stunning, sensual woman. Like a
living wet dream. No, this wasn't his wife. He was glad he had come
early. He really needed these extra few minutes to adjust to this
new, sensual Cilla walking toward him. If he hadn't seen the photos
published in the online gossip blog, he wouldn't connect this
beauty to Cilla. Not that he had been looking at the blog; it was
Ron who found it. Ron was updating their file on Conrad on a daily
basis and he had found the pictures. "Hey, is that your wife there
with Conrad? That's her name with the photo, but it sure doesn't
look like your Cilla. Wow, will you look at this," he said reading
the caption. "Priscilla Jayden, socializing with Peter Conrad."
"You should see this photo, Jake. That's the woman you left last
year. She's in the most read gossip blog in the country. Look at
her now. She looks more like Sheri than Cilla. She's pictured here
with Conrad a couple of times. And John's in this blog too." Jake
read the blurb, 'Peter Conrad with computer programmers Priscilla
Jayden and John Browne.' He just shook his head. Looked at the
picture again. "That's Cilla alright. Though she sure looks
different. And that's John. They're with Conrad. Cilla is arm in
arm with Conrad." He said outraged and surprised by the stab of
jealousy. He looked at all the pictures and read the story again.
This wasn't a news story, just a comment "Is this business or
pleasure? Or maybe a little of both." He frowned and then he stood
up "That's our in. She can get us close to Conrad." And so it
begins. For Cilla, none of this is going to make any sense. Not
after Jake left with another woman ten months ago. Peter is, after
all, her business partner, so when Jake comes back accusing her of
having Peter as her lover and telling her that Peter is a spy, the
only way to prove Jake wrong is to play along. Besides, there's
that part of her that really wishes Jake would come back...and
maybe this will help make it happen. Cilla quickly enlists the
other members of the "Gang of Five," her four geek friends who also
escaped the hell of abused childhoods to achieve success in their
chosen fields. They use their computer geek expertise to quickly
prove Peter's innocence and track down the culprits, setting a trap
for the real buyers of Jake's secrets. What they aren't expecting,
however, is to be entangled in a web of intrigue that is far more
complex-and dangerous-than they ever imagined. Caught in a
dangerous world of white slavery, money laundering, and revenge,
the Gang of Five is up to their neck in trouble as they call in
local police, FBI, and the Department of Homeland Security. A
fast-paced, contemporary romantic thriller, jay gee heath's debut
will have you wishing it would never end. heathdelivers the goods
in spades, seamlessly weaving suspense, action, and steamy romance
in just the right amounts in what is undoubtedly the most
enthralling escape novel in recent memory. As entertaining as it is
provocative, Right Skills is the ultimate guilty pleasure.
