Bachelor Thesis from the year 2007 in the subject Politics - International Politics - Topic: German Foreign Policy, grade: A, University of Malta, course: B.A. (Hons.) International Relations, 196 entries in the bibliography, language: English, abstract: In global affairs, the issue of poverty alleviation has intensified the question over foreign aid. Both the North and the South have their responsibilities in allowing the gap between them to widen, and this global issue worsening. However, dominant countries are able to dictate and influence international relations so as to enhance their interests. Less powerful countries on the other hand remain in a dependent position, having little choice but to accept the conditions set, while they also seek to secure their interests. In the context of this paper, the aim is to illustrate how foreign aid to Africa has been a global foreign policy tool for Germany. Foreign aid has allowed the growth of German markets for its exports, and thus boosting its economic status at a global level. Foreign aid has also provided employment for those working in the international development cooperation sector. Hence by becoming a powerful economic player, Germany has also gradually increased its status as a global political player. Within the context of global security challenge, foreign aid has also been used as a global foreign policy tool in the context of fighting poverty and the promotion of democracy under the banner of good governance. Foreign aid has also helped in promoting local projects in the developing countries, where for instance German environmental expertise remains necessary. However, the poverty plight has worsened over the last decades, and this thus questions the use for foreign aid. And it has been sadly furthering the process of poor subsidizing the r

The Universal Translator is a unique pocket-size translator that will enable it's readers to communicate in the most widely spoken languages in the world (English, Mandarin Chinese, Spanish, Arabic, Hindi, Portuguese, Bengali, Russian, Japanese, German, French and Malay). The vast majority of people in the world speak at least one of these languages. Imagine how wonderful it would be to be able to communicate with people anywhere in the world. The importance of being able to communicate with people gave rise to the idea to create the Universal Translator. Due to a lack of time, most people will not learn to speak more than one or two languages fluently. This can be a problem when there is a need and desire to interact with people from different parts of the world. There is a necessity to use a shortcut to aid in vital communication. The Universal Translator was created to provide the fastest route to communication. What separates it from typical phrase books is that technical details are ignored. This pocket translator simply provides the most common sentences and phrases used in social and business interactions, written as they would be if they were English words. This way one can focus on actual communication rather than differences in alphabets, grammar and pronunciation. This book allows people to perform basic social and business communication wherever they may find themselves in the world. This guide will be useful for travelers, business people and all citizens of the world.

Research Paper from the year 2006 in the subject Politics - International Politics - Topic: Peace and Conflict Studies, Security, grade: A, University of Malta, language: English, abstract: Angolan nationalist movements' struggle for independence (gained in 1975) against the Portuguese colonial power was to transform into an intrastate conflict between the parties: MPLA, backed by Cuba, and the FNLA plus Unita, backed by South Africa and the United States (US); and into an interstate conflict entangled within the Cold War scenario, so as to involve outsiders such as the Soviet Union, the US, Cuba and South Africa, each seeking to "shape an outcome that would advance its perceived interests."1 This paper will attempt to address the question of how third party intervention, in this case the US renders resolution of the conflict more difficult because of its primary concern being its own narrow self-interest. 1 D. Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2006 im Fachbereich Politik - Internationale Politik - Thema: Deutsche Aussenpolitik, Note: B+ for the whole course, University of Malta, Veranstaltung: German Foreign Policy, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Following the Second World War and in the context of the Cold War, reconstruction in Europe has led to the beginning of aid programme under American sponsorship. About a dec-ade later, the European colonies, in the wake of independence and the years onwards, were the ones in need for aid mainly due to the gap in economic development leading to their pov-erty. Interests would still be the overriding aim for the donor to provide loans and other forms of assistance to the recipient countries. Also taking into consideration some advantages for the donors, international organizations such as the United Nations (UN) would become important means via which the funds would be transferred. Within this framework, this paper addresses German aid policy and its role in the UN
