Using children's and young adult literature is a great way to
improve a variety of college classes in fields as varied as
biology, computer game development, political science and history.
This collection of new essays by educators from a number of
disciplines describes how to use such works as Where the Wild
Things Are, The Tale of Peter Rabbit, Swamp Thing, Percy Jackson,
and Harry Potter to introduce complex concepts, spark interest in
difficult subjects and develop an understanding of how to teach to
college and upper high school students. The contributors describe
innovative teaching strategies using dystopian fiction, graphic
narratives, fairy tales and mythology. Often overlooked or
dismissed by teachers, children's literature can support student
learning by raising levels of academic rigor, creativity and
critical thinking.
A working understanding of medical ethics is becoming ever more
important to all practising doctors. There are many ethical issues
which present often unexpectedly to healthcare professionals which
can seem impossible to resolve. This is an introductory text for
everyday general practice. Key issues and relevant legal aspects
are illustrated with examples and case histories and the book is
structured so particular topics can be found with ease. For added
benefit chapters have pointers for further reflection and analysis
references to journal articles and useful reading lists. The book
can be used as a resource for group discussion or by individual
general practitioners including GP registrars and their trainers.
Seemingly the most fantastical of television series, ""Buffy the
Vampire Slayer"" proves on close examination to be firmly rooted in
real-world concerns. In this collection of critical essays, fifteen
authors from several disciplines, including literature, the visual
arts, theatre, philosophy, and political science, study ways in
which Buffy reflects, illuminates, and clarifies its audience's
real-life experiences. The topics include the series' complicated
portrayals of the relationship between soul, morality, and
identity; whether Buffy can truly be described as a feminist icon;
the ways in which Buffy attempted, somewhat unsuccessfully, to
undermine stereotypes of Native Americans in Western culture with
the season four episode ""Pangs""; the role of signs in the
interaction between Buffy's aesthetics and audience; and the
problem of power and underhanded politics in the Buffy universe,
where characters frequently manipulate others for self-serving
reasons or give in altogether to the dark pleasures of raw power.
A Collection Of Poetry By Jim Ford This collection originally

worthy addition to any bookshelf.
The Part I Novel is an attempt to display the first few weeks of
the End Time in present "real life" terms. An American couple and
several Israelis form an interesting group that allows most of the
dynamic changes of this volatile situation to be tested. This
involves the Returned Whole House of Israel being resurrected in
their land along with King David, their Returned King and Prince
forever Tensions in the Knesset are high as we see King David
interacting with the legislators and a new and proactive Anti-King
David Party. Early Time-Line milestones are noted and then later in
Part II the overall End-Time Time Line Prophetic study is
developed. Part III presents newly discovered and cataclysmic
End-Time considerations. A new paradigm integrates into the former
Time Line. Although the basic Time Line is inviolately maintained,
the whole presentation must be modulated to reflect the Greatest of
Shaking the world has ever seen Life-lines of the Gentiles,
Christians, and Jews are each shown throughout the End Time. This
book took shape as The Holy Spirit opened up the scriptural path
from Jesus to Daniel to Ezekiel, confirming a "Thus saith the Lord"
sureness to the resulting End-Time Time Line. I was born into a
Christian Home and was active in a local Bible-believing Church.
Special prophetic studies led me to a staunch Pre-Tribulation
position lasting through WWII and college years. At UCLA and UC
Berkeley, BS and MSEE engineering degrees were earned. Trained to
be accurate, knowing God had one plan, I pleaded for His direction
on my life related to the End-Time Time Line. Shortly, believing
Jesus in Matthew 24 saying to go to Daniel the Prophet, I was given
God's Key to the End Time-essential to see and understand the
unsealed scriptures.
