Uncle Shelby's Circus chronicles the day to day life of an American
G.I. as recalled many years after war at the urging, and with the
encouragement of, family members. This war story, unlike so many
others, does not get into the political arena or deal with the
battlefield trauma as so many others before. Even in a war zone,
this "Circus" was found to be amusing to the soldiers of A Company,
62nd Engineer Battalion, and the story highlights how the American
soldier can, and does, make the best of the bad situations.
There has been an increasing issue in STEM education as many
students lack interest and knowledge in STEM disciplines and
fields. Given the high demand for STEM workers, and the projected
growth of STEM fields, it is important to expose students to STEM
education beginning as early as elementary school. Some K-6
programs are not preparing teacher candidates adequately for STEM
content or skills, especially in engineering. Integrating these
disciplines and practices throughout elementary education programs
could result in more exposure for K-6 students. Using STEM-Focused
Teacher Preparation Programs to Reimagine Elementary Education
presents anecdotal stories of how elementary education programs
have altered their content offerings, field experiences, and
curricula to expand their teacher candidates' knowledge and
exposure to STEM disciplines and fields. Covering key topics such
as diversity, teacher education, and technology integration, this
premier reference source is ideal for industry professionals,
policymakers, administrators of K-12 education, pre-service
teachers, teacher educators, researchers, scholars, academicians,
practitioners, instructors, and students.

business world. You will learn how to share your knowledge and
experience in a profitable way, both to yourself and your

without diluting the quality of the mentoring process, and without
making yourself crazy keeping up with them. Some topics covered in
this book: discover the benefits of mentoring how to find and
select a protege the avenues of communication how to cultivate a
relationship when it's time for your protege to go solo and much
more Mentoring is one of the oldest and most satisfying pursuits in
the history of civilization. Knowledge passed on from person to
person has always been perceived as the most valuable, and the most
memorable.

One of the finest books about the origins of West Virginia and its
rise to statehood, John Alexander Williams's classic West Virginia:
A History is back in print. In his clear style, Williams organizes
the tangled strands of West Virginia's past around a few dramatic
locations and pivotal events: the battle of Point Pleasant, John
Brown's insurrection at Harpers Ferry, the Paint Creek labor
movement, the Hawk's Nest and Buffalo Creek disasters. These events
serve as introductions to discussions of statehood, war, and
industrialization, with Williams always conveying a true feel for
the lives of West Virginians and the powerful influence of the
land. Highly recommended for students and teachers of West Virginia
history and for Mountain State history buffs.
Originally published in 1969, this parable of racial intrigue
centers on the killing of an unarmed black youth by Sergeant
Carrigan, a white policeman. The murder prompts Eugene Browning,
second in command at the Institute for Racial Justice, a civil
rights organization, to seek revenge by hiring a professional
killer to assassinate Carrigan. Browning enlists the help of an
aging Mafia don, who passes the hit to a former terrorist from
Israel. This single act of retribution sets in motion a crisis of
unprecedented proportions as a band of black militants proceed to
launch a violent plan of their own. As the dramatic events unfold,
Browning struggles to put his troubled personal and professional
life back in order.
This rare book on the "Hollow Earth" theory was originally
published in 1908 by Willis George Emerson, who relates the
adventures of one Olaf Jansen, a Norwegian seafarer. His eloquent
story of a land beyond the North pole was only one of many in its
time. Many of the modern-day "polar myth" theories can trace their
origins to these incredible journeys.
Jansen claimed that the northern aperture, intake or hole, so to
speak, is about 1,400 miles across. He also reports that this area
is inhabited by a race of tall human-looking beings who, he claims,
were driven out of the Garden of Eden, and who brought their
traditional history with them.
Join this adventure through the northern passage to a land that
time has forgotten; to a land of gold and splendor; to a land that
has yet to be "officially" discovered.
